Hey everyone,
I'm going to do this as an APRIL NO FOOLS because it seems like a good time to update, when everyone is expecting something to happen.
Today we've updated the site with a few changes, some of which were suggestions, others just necessary changes. Here's the short list:
- Scoreboard! (Phase I). This will now show all scores submitted through our scoreboard device. Phase II is almost ready, see below.
- Slightly new page style (needed for page speed enhancements and future mobile stuff... still in progress).
- Terms of Service / Privacy Policy updates, with requirement of acceptance (sorry, got to protect my family and home).
- Bug Fixes (several hundred).
- Page speed enhancements (thousands)
- Ninja Edits! You're now all Ninja... at least for the first 15 minutes after posting.
- Auto image resizing in the forum area, and other image enhancements.
- Category jump in form title bar.
- Awards display for forums (horizontal now, under post).
- Notification when someone quotes you.
- Quick links for our sister sites (left panel).
- Improved database search, which supports new types of categories, like publications, merchandise, etc.
- Notes for Friends and Foes (you can make notes as to why they're on either list).
- Transaction details are now sent in emails relating to a transaction.
- Much needed moderator and admin enhancements.
In progress:
- Overhauling of interfaces to be more mobile-friendly, faster and more intuitive.
- Phase II of Scoreboard, which includes: contests and tiers;
- Phase III of Scoreboard, will include awards, clans and brackets.
- Database submission tools for users.
What you need to do:
- Clear your browser cookies/cache if you seem something odd. See next, f that doesn't fix it.
- Check this thread to see if it was reported. If not, please report it here. Any info like steps you did to get the issue would be super helpful (browser, version, what you clicked).
- Criticism is welcome, so long as it's constructive. My goal is to make your life here pleasant.
Historically, I've tried to restrict the amount of change to a slow trickle because I know how much I hate it when sites I frequent change too quickly. I've only tried to improve things, so if you feel strongly that I did something that makes an area of the site unusable, please tell me (nicely). If you also have one of those, "why would they change XX to YY?" moments, please share that too. Sometimes I make changes that don't make sense, and if there's no good reason, I'll just change it back.
