The gamepad was being wonky so I turned the gamepad off and on to try and fix it. When it came back on, there was just a small -5 in the top left corner. I've tried unplugging from the wall, I haven't tried re syncing the wii u yet. It just kinda died.

Couple notes-

My kids have beaten the crap out of the cameras. Crack and unresponsive screen, only works with buttons, drinks spilled on it, sat on multiple times, etc.

I originally bought it on ebay. It has a bunch of games loaded onto it, and is homebrew modded.

In spite of the beating it has taken and likeliness of the downloaded games being pirated, there have been no issues with the system in over 2 years. It has always operated normally.

I'm stumped. I cant reset the system either since I cant access the home menu. Even if the

That is super weird the internet says wii error codes are supposed to be 5 digits? Maybe someone here has seen that as well because after a few Google searches I turned up nothing which is odd for me lol

edit: didn’t notice the home brew modded line, I wonder if that somehow messed up the error reporting from the system?

edit 2: SD card gone bad?

Looks like the same problem. I unplugged the SD card and received a -3 this time, so the wii u is looking for something that one of my kids must have deleted. Unfortunately I am useless when it comes to hacking systems, the directions may as well be in Greek!

Gonna take a lot of figuring out

May help to post a pic of the folder structure on the SD card if you can plug it into a laptop. Never hacked a Wii U before but I'm sure someone here has or can point you in the right direction.

I read some directions and found the homebrew launcher online and downloaded it to my pc and copied it to the SD card. I unzipped and and am trying to figure out where the file needs to be and if anything else may be missing that the wii u is trying to read.

Ugh, should have just returned the damn thing back then when I noticed it was hacked.
