Hey there,

Not sure if this has been brought up before (I tried searching for it, but all I came up was FS/FO Ads).

Anyways, basically what the title says.  Can anybody recommend what type of glue to use to "re-stick" a label for a NES game?

I have a few games with the top part of the label (top of the game) where the label has become unstuck (the top label still exists) - see photo - and am wondering if anybody has had any experience with this, and can recommend a glue that would work well in fixing this??

Thanks in advance for anybody recommendations.

if the back of the label is mostly clean I just use double sided tape and exacto knife to trim it perfectly.

if the back of the label isnt clean use Rubber Cement. Put a little on the label, a little on the cart, let it start to dry then press em together. Wont bleed thru the label and wont cause it to bubble or anything.

I've heard some people say just to use a glue stick.

I would try the search function on the left. That always gives great results...

I use a glue stick on this type. Just lightly coat the label side only, then firmly press it in place. It won't leave a mess or smush out if you use a light covering. You can use Goo Gone if there is too much, but it will likely remove whats holding the label down and you'll need to start over. Try on a cheap cart for practice.

Excellent! I was thinking of using a glue stick to reattach a label I deliberately removed from a double Odyssey 2 game I have as you want/need to clean them entirely you have to peel up the lower half to expose the screws. Good to read (along with Berserker's search links)that it works on NES games too. Thus now I shall not be as picky when I find a game I need/want and the label is peeling off the top.

Normally use Elmer's glue on the tip of a toothpick to get underneath the label without distorting/bending it. Guess it depends how bad the label is peeled up.

^Glue stick not the liquid right.

Liquid anything is a disaster.

I think I want to give the double sides tape a try, that sounds the best right now.

Glue stick works, but I'm searching for something better, as it's still not perfect.

What do all the repro makers use?

All the repro makers (should) use labels that are ordered on a sheet and are pretty much stickers.

I emailed a pretty reputable repro maker a while back. His products are always top notch. The answer he gave me was he used a certain kind of glue.

I've not been able to replicate the results, maybe i'm not using the exact same brand that he is.

I would still consider him a good one.

If there was a method to get the glue on it though without saturating the paper, sure. But that's hard--even with a glue stick. :/

Different type of glue, I guarentee it won't saturate, but again, it didn't work for me, so moot point.

So sounds like it's a split between using a glue stick, or carefully applying some Elmer's (or Craft Glue)...

Thanks for the replies everybody.

I'm going to have to test it on one of my cheap carts first. I want to do it right, as that photo I posted above is actually a Snow Brothers cart, and I don't want to "crap the bed" on that one!!
