Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the 2017 NA Weekly Contest Year End Tournament!

16 players that ranked in the top of the 2017 leaderboard will compete in a 4 weeks tournament that will be played in 4 rounds. For the first round, 4 groups of 4 players have been formed from their respective tournament seed :

Group A :
1st tablew/chairs
8th ninjistar
9th skinnygrinny
16th Krunch

Group B :
2nd Bea_Iank
7th Richardhead
10th SuperJimtendo
15th Murray

Group C :
3rd arnpoly
6th Gloves
11th Seppatoni
14th dirk12121212

Group D :
4th mbd39
5th Brock Landers
12th Red
13th Stryphos

The top seed of each group will pick the game their group will play in first round, and the worst performance in each group will be eliminated. The games available for first round are :

Golf
Rad Racer
Tetris
Wrecking Crew

1st seed has the first choice, then 2nd, etc. A game cannot be picked more than twice, and if a game is played by two different groups, the two groups will morph into one group of 8 players where the 2 worst performances will be eliminated.

Rules are revealed after every group know which game they are playing.

Players have made their choice, here's the results for first round :

Group A : tablew/chairs, the winner of the main leaderboard of 2017, has picked Tetris, a game of the mind.

Group B : Bea_Iank, in her pure and chaste way of being, has asked for a democratic vote among the players of her group (who happened to be all part of the famous Colorado Crew).  Murray voted for Wrecking Crew, but Richardhead and SuperJimtendo teamed up and picked Golf has their choice, forcing Bea to play her least favorite game of the selection.

Group C : arnpoly went with his primary force in the contest, a puzzle game, Tetris. By this decision, Group A and Group C are now morphing into Group A/C for the first round competition.

Group D : mbd39 wanted to play Tetris as his first choice, but got his hopes crushed by arnpoly's pick. He contemplated for a moment the three games left, and his choice landed on Rad Racer.

Here's the competition setup for the first round :

Group A/C : Tetris

Rules :
  • Choose Mode A
  • Start on Level 9
  • Play until Game Over
  • Highest score wins

Tie Breaker : Fewest lines clear takes precedence.

Group B : Golf

Rules :

  • Choose 1 Player Stroke Play
  • Play all 18 holes
  • Take your picture after you finish the last hole (either on the last hole screen or the title screen)
  • Lowest score wins

Bogus Tie breaker (just for you Richard) : If players have the same score, the lower strokes count takes precedence.

Group D : Rad Racer

Rules :

  • Choose whichever car you want
  • Play until Game Over (be quick with your picture on the Game Over screen, the screen that shows the map of the course)
  • Highest score wins

Tie Breaker general rule : In all cases, if two scores are identical after specific tie breaking rules, the top seeded player takes precedence.

The contest ends Sunday, 10/29/17 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.

Best of luck to all participants. Now, GAME ON Ladies and Gentlemen‼!

SECOND ROUND GAMES  :
1943
Gradius
Kung Fu
Double Dragon

I have Rad Racer coming in the mail, expedited delivery. I played a couple games on the emulator and got about 11k. I don't remember much about how to play this.

If you have a good score it might be wise to pause and take a picture before a game over just in case you can't get a pic of the game over screen in time. Unfortunately the game doesn't let you pause when you're about to run out of time during the race.

Press elect to go into.3D mode. Couldn't you bad  racer players sacrifice 2-3 points and snap sad pic when you're slowing down after time out?

Indeed, I like playing the game, but it requires so much non-stop concentration that I would prefer playing a relaxing game like Golf for a contest, especially in first round.

But mbd39 is as tough as it gets, he knows that the flaky competitors will just give up on Rad Racer.

By using the combined powers of too much booze, my hatred for a person named Brandon who was too much into this... "sport" and my desire to honour my late cousin, I may have broken how the eff this "game".
I will post ny score tonight. Luckily this thing can be played one handed.

Best of luck to the Colorado crew. They will need all of it and even that won't be enough.

Also, I may be manlier and uglier than the 15 other players, but last I checked (as of 1 minute ago, since I just woke up for some water) I still have female bits.

I'll try, man. I can't guarantee that I'll survive the first round given the competition and cart won't get here until probably Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll try to practice enough to beat the game.

I wish I could have picked Tetris. I always play on level 9.

Heh, you may have a point there.

I couldn't wrap my head around Golf when we played for the contest. It was the only game I played where I couldn't even get a participation score.
