You need to go back and make small talk and see if they have anything else. Good find! How much again?

Yeah not sure why there are bumps or something on the yellow carts. Anyone know anything on the japanese one never seen it and cant find anything on the internet about it. Not much of an collector of these just remembered seeing an article on a site about a year ago about these test ones. So I knew that they were collectible. I plan on trying to sell them not sure if I should sell the lot or each by itself.

Most of the time test cartridges go for 100-150, but sometimes ebay bidding can go a bit crazy. That yellow joystick cart went for 1000 last March, but that was a fluke. These are certainly rare and collectible though. You should be able to make a nice profit.

Definitely individually. You'll probably make twice as much.

Well, seeing as it was an estate sale...

Awesome find. Let us know when you throw them on ebay. Also about the cart with Japanese one it. Most of it looks like Kanji but some is Kana and I happen to be in the middle of learning that. So when I have a chance I will get my books out and give it a try. But the 3rd pink line and the part before the : are the parts that look like Kana. As for the other stuff you might try taking it to a Japanese shop or something near you and ask if they can read it.

2 quick things I notice on the pics:

1) Those bubble look like heat damage (and very hot heat damage). If you don't own an NES, go buy one, and test all of these out first. If you're not sure what you are supposed to see, snap pics and post here. We'll all be happy to help.

2) There have been other test carts with Japanese writing on them, and the best way to find out which it is would be to plug it into a machine. That said, it's definitely a very cool variant, and you'll probably be able to garner a lot more interest in it than the rest.

Value-wise, your grey NES ones are mostly likely worth $100-125, unless the dirty labels are just that and can be safely cleaned up a bit. The yellow carts will possibly garner more assuming they work, and I've seen them regularly command upwards of $200. I'm not as familiar with SNES test carts, but I think the 3 you've got there are in the $125-150 range. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm off.  The Japanese one... ??$$$.  NO idea on a price.

Anyways, fantastic find. I would recommend trying your luck at selling them here first rather than ebay. Just be sure to review the hand FAQ at the top of the page before starting a sale thread . Best of luck, and congrats!

Congratz!

I'd say keep and start collecting, but if you're not a gamer then you got much $$$ coming your way!

Ok I can't really make out the symbols before the : but the third pink line is power set. It took me awhile cause that first symbol is not Katakana but Kanji. So ? is power and ??? is set. So it might have something to do with the power pad since it was in a bundle called the power set.

I think Jonathan almost nailed it with the values. The SNES ones have been going for a little less, however. More in the 90-125ish range. I too am very curious about the value of the Japanese one and would love to hear someone chime in on that.

I definately recommend testing the Japanese cart if you have a NES available. Take a picture of the screen as well as it will aid in your selling ventures.
