I have only ever seen one of these that my friend bought a few years ago at the same time i got mine. Looks to have been a promotional give away from Nintendo Power celebrating what i believe is their 100 Issue Anniversary.

Im considering selling and i dont know where to start. This is as rare as it gets in Gameboy

Ive actually tried to gather info on this years ago but no one knew anything about it, so its hard to put a price tag on something when there aren't many to compare it too, but ill listen to offers. Should be fun at least, or i might get alot of hate mail. owell lol

Thats a good point my friend, however you know as well as i do when you sell a nearly one of a kind item, (that some dont even know exist) they can go hit or miss sometime. And i dont want to sell it for less than a certain price, and i think reserves are dumb on auctions so i decided to try it this way. Im not needing or really even wanting to sell, i just may for the right price. I mean the ideal buyer for this might not even get on ebay in a week to see the auction run. So i was gonna run it like this for a few weeks and see how it goes. If no good offers come in, back to the safe it goes. Thanks for looking

Very interesting item! I didn't know that one existed either =P
Good luck on the sale - I'd be interested in knowing how much it goes for.

LOL @ your price tag. I agree with chris. Maybe up to 500 if you find a Nintendo Power exclusives collector if there is such a person.

Yeah ebay would be a death trap on this. Sure Gameboy with the biggest selling portable for a huge amount of time until the DS sunk it, but I just don't think it has as many rabid gung-ho deep pocket buyers as say the NES does. ebay could net you $50 or it could get you $250, but it's a crap shoot, and I agree too that reserves are bullcrap and never use them. I'd think it best to just make a thread on here in the buy/sell/trade thing and just do a For Offer, and if you want to have it gone by X date, post that. Let people know they can float an offer for it over say a small gap of time (couple weeks?) and whoever hits it can make it official. No need to auction when it could likely backfire as it's best to do an interest check.

Is there any way of knowing how many were issued? The GBP originally went for around $70, I think. So tripling that for uniqueness and approximate rarity would put you in the $210 ballpark without box and manuals. But we don't know the actual rarity; it may be a much harder find than anyone suspects.

If I had around $250 to spare, I'd make an offer right now, though. That thing is fucking gorgeous.

If you read my post above "i clearly say i dont need it gone, sold or whatever. Just listing to see what kind of offers come in. actually my exact words were>>"So i was gonna run it like this for a few weeks and see how it goes. If no good offers come in, back to the safe it goes."

And your philosophy about deep pocket buyers for GB is totally wrong, and im sure there are others that will agree with me here. Gameboy has WAY more valuable games CIB than the NES does. (counting only liscensed cause thats all GB got)  I guarantee you someone out there would pay as much as im asking for this gameboy ....say...for a factory sealed Mega man 5 (for gameboy) in Mint condition (and i had one of those too) Sold it years ago for $400.00 then! I think you need to do some homework on Gameboy collecting.

But yea this item is like the DK Comp Cart, might even be rarer cause you see many DK carts floating around and it was a Nintendo Power item. (or rental if u got it that way)

Anyways i have it up for auction now, so no need to keep this thread going.....

BTW gotta throw it out there, "why is it when someone sees someone else selling an item that they don't own, or have never even SEEN in person, tends to want to talk like they know the rarity, or rate it as low?????? Is it because they dont want it to inflate in value before they can get their hands on one? Then all of a sudden once they own one, its time to talk it up. I mean i haveent been sitting on a Gameboy kiosk priced @ $2500.00 for like 3 years, when there's members on this site who have got them for a few hundred. And Paul ive seen you list stuff on Ebay for about 10 times what its worth. ? and at a show, and normally its not mint. just saying, just saying.

I gotta say, I agree about the way people try to talk things down. I've been a lurker for awhile now, but just recently joined to get some info on some games I found. It's amazing the way people are trying to lowball and say the games aren't valuable and then practically begging for multiple copies at the the same time.

What did the last one sell for then? I've never seen one. Hard to price things so rare and specific.

I'd say the $500 range is good, I would feel okay to pay that if I had $500. Thing is damn sexy! Doesn't mean it's a good price, though.

It's all good, and i appreciate everyones thoughts on the matter. However i have it at auction now so its no need to discuss what we think it will go for. If it sells everyone will see it sell and then we can discuss. If it dont its all good, and ill hang onto it for a little while longer. can we just lock this thing up before its gets real crazy in here.

MODS PLEASE LOCK

If you say so parpunk, my recent sales in GB stuff say otherwise so good luck with that auction. No need to get all argumentative over it.

I wasn't going to say anything, but I can't read anymore of this.  Yeah, what you guys are saying happens a little bit, but it's even more frustrating when someone lists a "rare" item at an obscene price and is also firm on that price.  Not saying that's the case here as obviously you put the price high to see if you could get lucky, but this happens a bunch too.

The final fantasy orb.  Or maybe a year ago when Quest4NES got that Myriad and was listing his item at 2x what the community thought, even when he got at least 25-30 opinions from very well respected members.

That's equally as frustrating, surely there's a middle ground somewhere.

I don't think Gameboy stuff is on a low, i think it is on an uptick. Look at the Mega Man V CIB that sold it was not even in that great of shape and hit $232.50, the last F1 Pole Position sold for over $600 CIB, Sly has sold some high dollar stuff for not cheap prices.
If you don't have the hard to find good stuff then yes it probably sells for crap, or if you are selling carts they won't ever have good value.

For your information, the reason I've had that sitting on there for so long is because I dont want to sell it.  But if the price is right i will.  And yes they have sold for over that in the past, so my price isn't crazy.  I understand your listed price completely.  For the same reason.  You aren't sure if you wanna get rid of it, but if someone makes the right offer.  Honestly I dont see it fetching anywhere near your asking price, buts thats not to say it wont.  I have never seen one sell before.  Honestly I don't see why you are getting so worked up over this.  You are asking us what we think the price is and we are telling you.  So not everyone agrees with you. So what.    What's the difference if someone tries to low ball because they don't have the item or if someone tries to high ball because they have the item.  There is no difference.  A personal attack on Paul is a little uncalled for.  You may wanna laugh at his prices, but he sells

Well you did come in here saying that you didn't know where to start dude. If none have been sold that anyone knows of your basically asking for a guesstimate of what people figure it would sell for. I mean what did you expect?

Chris - Your listing on the GB kiosk is exactly the same as me listing this. End of story, however ur asking $2500.00 bones, and if i came in ur thread and said $150-$300.00 i think its worth, ur gonna get a little edgy, but who really cares. Im sure youll meet in the middle somewhere someday and make like $1500-2K on it. KILLER! thats awesome man and i hope you do. Just like i hope i could meet in the middle somewhere from where my asking price is. (and im almost there, ive already had offers over $500.00 in the first couple days bro. And me and paul are always cool ....i wasnt personally attacking him no more than he was me. I mean he literally posted """LOL @ your price tag. I agree with chris. Maybe up to 500 if you find a Nintendo Power exclusives collector if there is such a person.""" Bascially meaning he thinks it wont sell and laughs at my attempt? And he (and many of us) do the same thing and i never go into threads laughing at their crazy high prices. (well i may, but i never post that i am lol)

tanooki - its all good man, i just disagree about GB falling. Sorry about ur sales, but i know unique and obscure, and sealed seem to be going well.

JB - Yea your right there is a middle ground somewhere, right in the middle of my asking price lol. Im not firm on this thing, and first offer over 9 ill probably take. And im close, (even getting offers on this site alone that are over 5) No lie. Anyways i know it looks like im being a baby to start a price check thread, and then rant when people guess low. But when someone states that they literally "laugh out loud: of my asking price. thats just rude, when that same guy has asked insane prices on stuff. And chris is right he still sells, which is awesome! But i keep my laughs to myself, but it works for him, so there is no real reason to laugh.

Jeff - i agree with you, i personally think GB is growing like crazy. Not cause im selling this, but because i really do.

fris - u are exactly right, this is what i should have expected.

Anyways i asked for a lock on this since i have it at auction. LOCK ER UP BOYS
