FrankenGraphics, can you do the background art for my future castlevania knockoff? LOL. (it's not the game I'm doing now, this one is planned for...uhh...probably 8 years from now or so LOL if the scene is still around then

Is it going to be called CATslevania?

In all seriousness - It seems these mockups will end up in something with toggle switch on NESDev after we're done with our undisclosed platformer. By 8 years, it probably means i've already contributed to two gothic fantasy games (the zelda-like topdown one and this - if they see a release), but if that doesn't turn you off, i can probably come up with material for one more. But yeah, let's keep that idea and see whatever happens in the future.

Man I'd be happy if the whole scene were making like 15 castlevania knockoffs. They'd all be wonderfully different. And no it won't be catslevania, lol.

Some stuff that's been in the works since this summer

titlescreen

guideline graphics for a level. The in-game decor won't be as dynamically placed and densely populated, though (the engine puts a restriction on meta tiles).

I ran across this the other day, it looks amazing! There may be some gushing in the next episode of The Assembly Line, just to warn you.

Amazing as always, is that 1-point perspective lava  (molten iron, right?) getting a palette-cycle animation?

Thanks!! And good eye!   While i guess it's up to the viewer to make sense of it, molten iron was precisely what i was going for.

Minimal update mostly adressing the far end of the river:

That foundry/lava-flow background is really great.

Definitely want to see what an animated version looks like!

Thanks, everybody!!

Here's three song previews from the gothic action platformer project. I've intentionally blanked out their descriptive names to free you from pretext. If anyone's willing to lend an ear for a few minutes, feel free to comment here or in the attached form what your thematical associations are. That way i might be able to see if i've hit my intended mark or not.   Thanks in advance!

The third song reminds me of Astyanax on the NES. All were great overall!

So this past half year has been a bit unlucky and shaky. Nothing too serious but enough so to not let me keep up with this hobby and being online in general. Just wanted to show and tell some pieces to mark that i'm back and tell everything that things are going forward again with the homebrewing.

First some HUD elements and SFX from a game-in-development tentatively called HALCYON, which i'd like to describe as in the blastermastroidvania genre? There are vehicles, you're exploring an alien planet, and you can progress nonlinearly if you want, in theory. It is programmed by Nathan Tolberts

Some background stills from the 3rd are-in-development of Project Blue:

First mockups from the 4th area of the same game:

Rainy scene from the 2nd area:

There's more on the blog, which i've started to update more frequently lately.
