Hello everyone and welcome to the 2014 edition of the NintendoAge N64 completion thread! I am your host and I will be keeping track of everything this year. The last two N64 completion threads did not go well, but it's left us lots of room for improvement. Come on N64 fans, we can do much better! I'm sure we'll have no problem passing what we got previously.

Past threads:

Instructions
All you have to do is beat a Nintendo 64 game in 2014. Once you do please let us know in this thread. Posting a picture as proof is highly encouraged but optional. If you are the first person to beat the game then you get the point. We're also interested in hearing how the game was. Please follow all the rules below.

What's New?
-We're now doing all NTSC and PAL releases. This adds 7 more games to the list.
-The rules from last year are now a bit more relaxed. I don't see why we needed to restrict what controller you use.

Rules
-You must start and finish the game in 2014 for it to count.
-No in-game cheats or Gameshark codes allowed.
-Saving and using continues is okay. You can use password saves assuming the game gave you the password and you didn't look it up.
-Emulators are okay to use as long as you don't use the emulator's functions to beat the game.
-Virtual Console versions are allowed.
-Ports and remakes are not allowed.
-NTSC and PAL versions only please.

Games are worth one point each. Even if someone beat a game before you, you can still post your win here as well as anything you want to say about the game. Feel free to post any questions in this thread.

If a game has a little star beside it then please read below the chart.

Updated!

Come on N64 gamers we can do better. NES and Gameboy threads are way ahead. We're only beating the SNES thread, and that's only because it hasn't been created yet. I myself am working on a game right now. Already 12+ hours into this save file and still a little far from the end.

SNES thread is created, and ahead...that said, give it time. I'll likely knock a few off at some point, and there's gonna be others. Just gotta start talking about things to keep it in peoples' minds. Eventually the gamers will come

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

My first contribution to the N64 list, which happens to be the last game on the list! Yoshi's Story is complete. I might knock off Snowboard Kids next, getting the itch to play that game again.

I'm sure it'll catch up.  Every game increases the SNES percentage by around 0.15%.  The N64 library is significantly smaller, so it changes the total by more.  I'm not surprised by the lack of early submissions though, many N64 games take a ton of time to play through.  Sure, there's less than a game a day, but most will take more than one to finish.  Just be patient

Also, I haven't done my wrestling game roundup yet (just did a bunch in December), but when I do that'll take care of at least a couple, if not a bunch

When I was just a lurker last year, I remember watching the progress of this threads 2013 version. Now that I'm an actual member here, I hope to help this thread/goal out by knocking a few titles of the list. I hope to start posting some completed pics soon!

Well I finished Banjo Tooie! This was the game I've been working on since the beginning of the month.

I played Banjo-Kazooie to death as a kid, and beat the game many times over. Tooie I played as well but I never finished it as it just wasn't as fun as Kazooie. Some of the stuff was difficult to figure out and sometimes the levels can seem like a maze. Playing the game many years later, I was able to figure most of the stuff out or I remembered it from before. Grunty Industries is a pain, and that's where 1/4 of my playtime went. Otherwise I really like each of the levels. This was my first time actually finishing it and I'm real happy with that. I can finally say I conquered both of them!

Can't wait for Banjo-Threeie to come out...

We could definitely use your help this year. The progress out of the gate was great last year but then everyone disappeared.

Just finished Bust-A-Move 2: Arcade Edition. First time playing it, but I loved the original Bust-A-Move on the Neo Geo MVS, so it wasn't tough to pick it up and go to it

I just noticed the requirement for Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits...play each game? You should at least have to beat a level on each game...pretty sure that's what you meant, but just in case I thought I'd mention it

I'll have to double check this, but I don't think they have levels, the games are just endless quarter munchers. I did just notice there is an Arcade Quiz which asks you a set number of questions so that's winable I guess. I'll double check this game tomorrow.

Well, I've done a bit of work on it, but probably not gonna do enough for my liking.

15/15 correct on the trivia game.
Level 3 on Root Beer Tapper (think there's only three bars, I could definitely knock this one off with a bit of work)
Level 2 on Defender (I don't think it changes much after, I've always considered it a one-and-done game)
Failing miserably at Spy Hunter (I am terrible at the game).
Level 4 on Robotron 2084 (not really sure how long this one goes either, but there's probably a point in the game where it stops introducing new things...I'd need to research this before making a call).

According to the trivia game, there's apparently 4 stages on Sinistar.  It's probably an infinite loop like all old arcade titles, but I'd say all four would need to be finished before it's done (and I suck at the game, so yeah, not happening on my end).  And then there's Joust, which I don't have much experience with either.  If you're gonna stick to just playing the games, I'd be happy to fire it up quickly and play a round of the two I didn't play, but I honestly think that more should be done.  Most, if not all, of these games will have a loop point, it's just a matter of figuring out what it is.

Sorry for my delayed reply. I needed a bit of time to do some research on these games as I didn't want to just give you a generic "You're doing a great job keep playing" response. I've been looking for something in each of these games that we can say is the end, but there really isn't a lot.

Root Beer Tapper - The game loops, but there are 4 unique locations with their own set of characters. I'd consider it 4 levels then. it's the only game to not have a default high score to beat.

Spy Hunter - Appears to be endless. The background occasionally changes colour but otherwise it doesn't end. There's a guy on Youtube playing the Arcade version for over 17 minutes minutes without a level change or anything. Default high score is 20000.

Robotron 2084 - There are 255 waves and it loops back to the first wave after wave 255. High score 151782.

Joust - I'd assume it's the same as Robotron. There's a guy on Youtube who makes it to wave 61 before quitting. High score is 109102.

Defender - This game does have waves, but no idea how many there are. Could be the same as above. 21270 high score.

Sinistar - Not sure, looks endless. 39045 for high score.

And none of those high scores are even easy to beat. Man this game is such an oddball. I didn't put an unbeatable list in the thread this year, but this game would definitely go on it if there was one. If you just want to play the remaining games then you'll get the point for it this year.

I just beat Clayfighter Sculptor's Cut with Taffy. I enjoy 63 1/3 a little better since you can use Earthworm Jim without unlocking him.

Just beat Disneys Tarzan. Hadn't played the game ever before, so this was a fun reason to try it. I beat it, but didn't 100% every level, and I don't see myself going back to do that lol. Its an ok game, but too many cheap deaths from falling or controller/movement delay to really enjoy it.

@DOPLIC

Added. You shouldn't have any trouble taking the point for 63 1/3 as well.

@64BitMatthew

Added. As long as the game is complete you're fine. I've heard good things about that game.
