I recently won a ZeldaOoT N64 cartridge on Ebay.
It's black..
Does anyone here know anything more about it? The seller told me he bought it a long time ago from a gameshop that sold used games in Germany. He bought only the cartridge, with no box or manual.

Okay thanks.
You think I should claim my money back on this?
'Cause he wrote "original Nintendo" etc in his auction.

Does the game play properly? If you didn't pay too much for it, i'd keep it just for the cool lookin cart.

It looks pretty kick ass to me. I would keep it unless you spent a lot of it thinking it was rare or something.

In the close up of the front label, it looks like the far right area of the sticker wasn't entirely applied, so it makes sense to be a fake.

If you got a deal, keep it but I'd be pretty pissed if I spent considerable money on it...

That's not a fake, that's legit, just from a region other than NTSC. Not sure on my PAL stuff but I've seen that artwork CIB before.

Hm. =/
I spent €30. Well I dunno, I guess the seller sold it thinking it was just a "unusual" N64 cartridge that he picked up many years ago. I don't think he knows anything about this being a fake.
empire: Jupp, it plays just fine.
Yelir: The sticker is complete, sorry if the pictures doesn't show that. Seems to be a legit and original N64 sticker when I compare it to the other N64 carts I have.

Is there anyway to be sure about it being a fake, other than the fact that it's not supposed to exist?

EDIT: jonebone: Well, to me, it looks completely legit, it's just that OoT N64 carts are not supposed to be BLACK, hehe.

I looked into it, that's the proper European release label, but I can't find anything about it being a black cartridge. I'd open it up, if it's grey inside, someone painted it.

Nah, I can't find anything on it. Only can find grey carts with that label, I knew it was PAL from the start since I've seen it a ton on ebay. Perhaps it's 100% legit but just painted black, I can't say for sure, either way it's bad ass.

No, it's definitely fake. The artwork on the sticker is the European artwork but it never came in anything other than grey in Europe.

It's the European label alright. UK has the same black label with a different code.
probably just slapped a label and Zelda PCB in a Turok 2 cart which are black.
very well done though and looks really cool!
I'd keep it just for the awesomeness

Ah I didn't realize that we were talking about cart color, just the black label. Label legit, maybe cart is painted.

Thanks for the replies.

If I do open it up (to see if it's painted), is there anything else I could look for to confirm the cart really is fake?
If yes, let me know what it is, so I can take more pictures for you guys to see.

The cart actually looks legit to me but the funny thing is, the label looks legit also!
You should be able to tell if it's an official black cart (from another game) or has been painted.
It doesn't look painted to me but I'm not holding it my hands.
The label does look legit to me too, even the way it's been stuck on (the slightly lifted ages make it look legit).
So unless someone's making perfect repro labels.. I have NFI :/

Don't get your panties in a twist people, it's probably nothing more then a black carted game's exterior over an OoT's board with an OoT's sticker on it.

I know there's a ton of black N64 carted games out there, and it's a ton easier to open the (likely shitty sports games) black cart up and swap out the inside and outer sticker for another game then it is to custom paint a grey cart.

That'd be my guess.

Y'all can do something like this too pretty easy with a gamebit, original copy of a game and someone selling N64 front labels.

What region is this game? I Remember reading there was this uber rare OoT German special edition that was only sold in one specific store... I do remember the box looking just like the label and being all black. Since the one I saw was sealed, I didn't see the cart. It's possible it might've come from that? Someone who knows more about international N64 games might be able to shed some light on this.
