Yeah me too. I just make mistakes really often

I played three or four "Level 24"s on my run.  Any mistake at the start really costs you!

Can someone tell Arn that I called him out?  Anyway here's my follow-up to that calling-out, I'll take the temporary silver please

This run was going well but I started in on the level with no Blue viruses on top and wasnt able to skim off the first layer or two fast enough once the game started giving me blue pills.  At least I died on Level 17 (as opposed to 19) and with a higher score than last time... I must be improving at combos

I'm not putting in any more time into Dr. Mario this week, I was already planning on one and done.  It's more important for me to work on my Q*bert grind, and I'm already short on time because my daughter isn't feeling well, so she's napping and then staying up way too late.

Rest assured that if I wanted to top your score, I certainly could!     I can more or less play indefinitely on medium speed, until I make a mistake anyway.

How many years have you been playing Dr. Mario?

I didn't play it as a kid, and I never got into it as an adult.

I had to put months of practice into Tetris to become semi-proficient, and I'm still not very good. It's probably the same with Dr. Mario. It doesn't seem the kind of game that can be learned in a week.

I guess I will put up together a mod score tomorrow.
Someone else needs to break 500K at least, darn it.

How did you wind up with 130,800 when Dr. Mario was played last time? You're supposed to be terrible at puzzle games!

Don’t tell but I kinda like dr Mario

i remember thinking (the last time we played it) I can score more next time. But I have had zero time. Haven’t even touched it yet

just working all the time and spending time with my family

Cool. I thought maybe your wife/gf filled in for you that week, haha.

I'm more of a Tetris guy. I played some Tetris today and got 283k starting at level 15. I think that Dr. Mario is the harder game with the increasingly cluttered playfrields and the complexity of setting up high scoring combos. But then I've played Tetris much more.

I love me some Dr. Mario. The truth about high scores is that a single combo that clears 7 or 8 viruses rakes in more points than clearing an entire level of 2 or 3 virus combos. To get Ricky-level scores, it almost doesn't matter how many tiny combos you get. Spend all your time and effort getting those huge combos, and don't feel bad about "wasting" viruses to clear the way for bigger combos.

Updated my score.  I've enjoyed playing.  However, the runs have been taking a long time, and I can't look at falling pills anymore.

I'm working 80 hours a week right now,but I figured I needed at least a tiny bit of recreational time for myself. Doubt I'll have time for anything more than this one run.

Thanks Kevin! Seriously, these past couple of months have been brutal.

Easily the worst period of time in my life. While still not ideal, things are definitely trending positively so I am very thankful for that.

Glad to hear things are getting better for you.  Everyone here at the Weekly Contests is here for you and to help you escape any of the difficulties life is throwing at you.  Trust me, these contests have helped me many times in the past forget anything that was bothering me.

That means a lot! Thank you! I’m not sure how much time I will have to devote to the contests, but I do plan on putting up a score no matter how meager it is.

Glad to join the party!
I never played Dr. Mario, except for the Nes Remix Wii U game.
My name is on my Mug which I was rewarded with after winning an Intellivision contest.
I'm using the AVS from RetroUsb.
