Mega Man was the fourth NES game that I had as a kid, so I'd probably lean more towards your rating of 3/10 due to being familiar with the game, but I know that it has a general reputation as being fairly difficult.

That is just my guess at an objective ranking.  The Mega Man games tend to be regarded as difficult games and I can see spots in the game that take a lot of repetition (and some luck) to get good at going in blind.  It's 3/10 for me just because I can get through it without a ton of effort even though there are a few tricky spots.

Fantastic write up. I love Kirby's Adventure. Personally i feel the last boss was harder then Meta Knight. Despite the ease the game is great!

The last boss is pretty tricky, but over all the years of repetition I have him completely mapped out so the last boss is easy now for me.  Meta Knight has a lot of randomness, a small hitbox, and Kirby has a forced small attack range that when all put together makes it just a bit tricky for me compared to the rest of the game.

Another great job on the review! I need to give Kirby's Adventure a try sometime. I had moved on to the SNES by the time it was released, so I never really got a chance to play it back then. It sounds like a fun game!

Now, fair warning that the next blog will take some time though it's a good one.

After all the times we have talked I can't believe you have been keeping a secret from me. You never mentioned you were a Battletoads master. I bow down to you sir. I really need to get back on the horse and beat some NES games, it's been close to a month since I beat a game.

It's true!  I'm only good at Battletoads since I spent a lot of my childhood playing it.

I need to get back to playing myself ... hopefully soon!  I'd like to get at least one more game/post done by the end of the year.

If you can beat 8-5 and 9-4 then you can handle 9-5.    A lot of it has to do with getting a good run of pieces and a decent starting layout.  I had to do a few attempts on both 8-5 and 9-4 and then got lucky on 9-5 and beat it first try.

No new blog today, but here's a bit of an update.

It's a rare occurrence but last night I had a block of 2 1/2 hours of game time and it just so happened to work out that I finished up two games for the blog! Those blogs still need to be written, but now I am at 10 games completed.

I bring this up because I set up this project so that the first 10 games were hand-picked by me, and so from now on the games will be pulled off of my pre-randomized list. That makes future updates very much uncertain, but also kind of exciting and interesting.

I'm not going to spoil Game #11, but I'll say that it's a game I have not played before outside of the 5 minutes testing the cart. I also noticed that it has not yet been completed as part of the current Can NA Beat Every NES Game In A Year thread, so maybe I'll get my first contribution out of this!

I'm aiming to have Blog #9 out next week. It's not a bad thing to have a little bit of a buffer. Stay tuned!

Another week, another blog post!  This is my wordiest one yet ... over 2000 words according to Wordpress.  Considering it's a precursor to my favorite game of all time, I think it's worth the long write up!

I played Metroid from start to finish this past summer for the first time since I was a kid. I found it to be a lot more fun with an online map so that I could plan my route on the go.

I totally get this.  I mentioned in my post that NES Metroid feels really dated and it's hard to get into today.  If you like the Metroid series, Nintendo re-did Metroid way better in Metroid: Zero Mission on GBA.  I highly recommend that game!

I figured out my own route for speedrunning the game after I took my time exploring everything first and I think I ended up with a really solid route.  I liked doing it on my own, but of course a map would help with that too.

I think I had a pretty good route too. I just missed getting the best ending by about 5 minutes, which was pretty good given that I hadn't finished the game in one sitting in years.

New post!  I beat the fan favorite DuckTales!  Or is it Duck Tales?

#10 - DuckTales

This finishes up the hand-picked portion of the game list, so the rest of the list is all randomized.  It's already looking to be pretty interesting!

I have actually finished 13 games so I need to do some catching up on blog posts.

Thanks for reading!  I appreciate it.

Marble Madness is one that I'm already pretty good at, but it took me lots of practice to get the hang of it.
