Jeremy, don't sweat it, nobody is cheating.

It's just using the A+Start level warp (adds 10 levels to whatever you selected)
It's the only way to break 100k points in Type B.

OK...so NA has now seen two "perfect" games at Level 15
Unfortunately, it looks like NES King dropped a few blocks faster than I did

Wow...if you score high enough a red dragon flies across the background at the end of Level 17

And in Level 18 the space shuttle flies over the Kremlin

Well, I'm a contender, but we'll see if Lady Luck is nicer to me or NES King by the end of the week!

By the way...you're good at this game, right?  Let's see another heavy weight get in the game!

Oh, and in case anyone was wonder, Twin Galaxies only has scores for A-Type, so we don't get to see how we stack up against the official world scores on this one

Yeah, I know.  But this is the first time I've played B-Type above Level 9, so it's all new to me!

EDIT to add:

OK, time for me to call it quits for today...I'm having Tetris hallucinations

As long as people use the honor system and don't use save states (i.e. they play FAIR games end-to-end) I personally don't mind.

If anything, people playing a fair game on an emulator will be at a disadvantage due to potential control latency issues.

Also, it will be pretty obvious if somebody cheats. I'll work up a scoring table later, but basically without a custom controller (with tact switches instead of "mushy" buttons) it's probably not even possible to get all tetrises above LVL 18 High 0, without extraordinary luck, a slow-down feature, or a rom hacked to give all straight pieces.

Even LVL 18 is pushing it. I typically play with the gap on one end, but at that level I'll need to adapt my strategy and put the gap in the middle so I don't have to clear the sides with the long bricks.

EDIT:  not to say that it's not POSSIBLE to play beyond LVL 18, but I don't think the game makes it possible to consistently get ALL tetrises at LVL 19 or higher.  (again without ABSURD luck)

I know 16 is possible, but it will take some luck.

I got 5 tetrises in a row on 16 and then a couple of random stuff (triples/doubles) that couldn't be avoided while waiting for a couple of long bricks.

I think 17 is doable as well. 18 is a stretch, and I'm pretty sure 19 is impossible to do all tetrises without the universe being in perfect alignment to force the random block generator to give you EXACTLY what you need.

^ agree 16 and 17 are do-able you just have to get lucky, REAL lucky.

I take it that's another attempt at LVL 15, since I don't think that's mathematically possible at any other level.

I'm just not in the habit of slamming down bricks for the extra points, so it looks like I'll need to ace one of the higher levels if I hope to take it.

EDIT to add:

FYI - we seem to be the only people on the internet trying for a high score in B-Type.  No scores for B-type are posted anywhere and all of the stuff on youtube is just showing off CLEARING the 25 lines at high level and height 4...which frankly is quite doable.

I wonder if 140k is a fundamental maximum for LVL 15 HIGH 0? Looks like it might be. I guess you might be able to squeeze out a few more by letting the height build up before your final tetris, if you're feeling lucky.

Suffice it to say...I'll have to try and beat your score by upping the ante to LVL16/17/18 and keeping my fingers crossed.
