It's especially hard to beat it with 9-10 victims throughout the game while starting from stage 1, even if you abuse save states on an emulator. The game is a blast to play though, and the music is very catchy.

There's so many ways to play this game. How do you usually play through it? I've beaten it before, but with only one victim remaining so it doesn't really count.

You can actually "meet" the developers in that game.

I've never even come close to beating it. I was not introduced to this game when I was a kid though. I just purchased it about a year ago.

it is difficult, but super fun. i think the part that gets me is wanting to open and/or investigate every single cupboard, corner, and crevice for items. then enemies sneak up on me. OCD...

I have a love hate thing with it as I've had maybe 4 copies in the last 2-3 years. I want to keep it, but then I realize the passwords suck, it's overly nasty on killing people after you get beyond the big baby, and it just starts to wear thin. But then I get another copy and I play it again until I sell it unfinished once more -- wash, rinse, repeat. I really think next time maybe I should hold onto it as it's a pretty slick Lucasarts title.

Fun game, love the weapons and the music, but it's tough as nails.

Yeah the password system was poorly thought out; later in the game, using passwords actually makes it harder since you lose all your important items. If you start from level 33, good luck ever beating the giant spider a few levels later.

It can be a very unforgiving game but I love it, the game captures the feeling of panic so perfectly when playing the later levels.

Ive only made it to the conveyor belt warehouse level but found it difficult not to lose lives on that one, we may have made it further but at that point its just use all your items and hope for the best.

Would love to watch a well played game to learn some of the strategies required.

I've been playing both the SNES and Sega versions since they came out. Never came close to beating... IMO, it's just easier to let all but 1 die and then memorize where they are in any given level. I think I made it to level 30 or so at one point, but that was when I was a kid and actually was good at it. Now-a-days I either lose my patience or just fail much, much earlier.

Ghoul Patrol was garbage though. What a disappointment.

Yeah, I hate the passwords too. Inexcusable oversight by the developers. Still, this is loads of fun to play!

I once managed to save every victim on every level (*ALMOST, since there is one that can't be saved), but it requires a lot of planning and even then a bit of luck. There are some places where enemies spawn right next to a victim, making it nearly impossible to save them unless you learn a few tricks.

SDA still has my run. It's over 2 hrs long and isn't necessarily done fast, but I was just going for 100% rescues (well, 99.8% as you'll see).

I freaking love this game! I agree it's tough as hell but it's so much fun.

It's too bad Ghoul Patrol sucked so hard. I love haunted house games and Ghoul Patrol really could have been a winner.

You know there are times like this when you see a good game ruined by some bad decisions where emulators/retron 5 could serve you well being able to save it by the stage and not lose all your items the password fails to carry over.

Love this game so much! the atmosphere, the graphics, Music so well done! and me and my bro almost beat it once but we ran out of the more powerful items during the fight with Dr. Tongue. So wish Konami would give it another crack! (especially with zombies being so main stream the last many years). Come on get off your duffs Konami!! lol

Yeah, this is one of my favorite games on the system easily. Never came close to beating it either, although I plan too eventually. Also kinda viewed the passwords as part of fun, but weapons wise it makes it pretty brutal. I also need to get a copy of Oh No! More Zombies At My Neighbors too, as it looks like it would be well worth playing through.

It is actually possible to save that victim through a glitch. Awesome speedrun though, 2:17 is incredible.

Enjoyed this game too but also never completed it. Super Smash TV comes to mind as well, played the heck out of that game with various friends and we did get pretty far...but could never beat it

Super Smash TV is a difficult game, but I'm not sure if it's quite as difficult as zombies ate my neighbors.

I think I can only make it to level 20 (is that the giant worms?) I've maybe gotten past them once. Either way, this game is one of my all time favorites. I used to rent this game almost every weekend. I would have been better off if my parents just went ahead and bought it for me. Instead, I ended up paying about 30 for a complete Genesis copy 3 years ago. No regrets though, love that game!

I haven't played this game since the mid 1990s, getting to a level (36?) with giant spider at the end that took infinity hits to kill with a cheerleader behind it in a cage. I seem to remember all the level maps being enormous. I did have a lot of fun with it though, would be good game to pick up and blow hours on.
