With the current interest in people making repros for their collections, I felt we needed to make a thread of artwork to go along. The custom NES controller overlay thread is a success and an inspiration for this new idea.

Upload the template here would be nice, I don't know any french.

And seems pretty cool, hopefully I can learn something from this, I'd like to learn to make nice labels.

Tips and tricks would also be great (I don't know if you want those included here or not). I know some people use double-wide packing tape to protect the labels and make them glossy.

Here we go, all finished up. The cart is pink almost exactly the same as the label, my camera phone sucks sometimes doesn't get the color right.

Had these sitting on my harddrive for a while now, let me know what you guys think. Sorry if they're small here, I didn't want to over-flood this thread too much with pics. If there's one you want me to upload full scale, let me know.

Take note all my labels say "Unofficial seal" and "NES-XX-USA" to help distinguish it from any originals. Especially any unreleased versions. If possible, I'll even put "REPRODUCTION" in big bold letters somewhere on it.

Edit: Also, some of these I couldn't use (like some of the pirates and the original Dragonball) because of the crazy mappers... So Imma wait till I can actually get the physical famicom version and go Dr. Frankenstein on some Gyromites. lol

Everybody: Y'all are free to use them in your repros if you want. :3 They might not be in the correct size, so you may have to resize them in the template provided. They should be good as-is though, the guy I get my repros from takes them like they are.

The labels look awesome so far guys, anyone care to share there label printing process and what is best for applying the label to the cart.

^ http://www.vintagecomputing.com/i... It's just as simple as getting sticker paper and some sort of laminate. If you can find some clear tape that's wider than NES lables, you can ghetto-laminate it. You might need to do a couple of layers going that route, and is kinda messy if you don't have a cutting board.

Oh, and for anyone wondering about the "Bloody Bloody Princess" label... Well, it's an idea I had for a fan-hombrew... It's pretty much a Splatterhouse clone, but with Princess Peach.

Although, it was just an idea, I did draw up a mockup using sprites from various other games:

For my repros I go to the dollar store and buy packs of CD labels and packs of business card laminates, I print out my labels using the template and program mentioned in my first post, then use the laminate over top of the label, then cut out with a hobby knife.

Yes if you look close enough you can see the lines from the cd labels but when its in my NES you can't and the laminate is nice a durable.

Not to quibble, but if I was going to make a custom label, I would at least make sure to spell the name of the game correctly.

Here I found the label I was looking for, now if someone can reproduce this in Engrish, full resolution and sized to fit the back of an NES cart that would look pretty sweet.
