I missed NESathon stream, but heard hints on Twitter that we'd be getting more info on the new controller for the event. What did I miss and did we get a release date?

All I know is the controller lasted the entire stream. I think Bunny wrote something about the battery life being 100+ hours.

I would definitely be interested in purchasing a controller.

TheToxieRules did a no death MM3 run using the controller after it had been in use for over 24h straight already. I'd say the level of accuracy is on point.

Yeah it was smooth as eggs, buttons feel really nice and stiff not mushy like the OEM controllers.

I highly recommend those things, me and Mog did a 2-player Turbo Tunnel pass with them both as well.

I may get one as long as they are not too high in price. My wallet needs a break.

Toxie, any noticeable lag? Seems like there would have to be some small amount since it's wireless.

None at all, I could play Battletoads perfectly fine with it which is the ultimate test.

They should work with any NES console or clone according to RetroUSB.

Those that purchased the LE AVS are guaranteed one of these correct? I think there was also a book that is supposed to be in the works for LE AVS folks.

Yes!  Got me 2.  I can finally sit back on the couch without a mess of wires from 2 controllers and a 4score.

Ordered two. It's honestly incredibly expensive compared to literally any other option, but since a number of trusted NA members have sworn by these, I'll take your words for it, and hopefully these become my go-to controllers for the NES/AVS.

What other options are so cheap? Retro Receiver + NES30 is in the $50-60 range, and it is lacking features for NES in every category. I haven't seen any other gamepads that even attempt to focus on quality.

I meant any other option I'd consider. Apologies.

My mangled words were meant to convey that I would personally only opt for either these, or OG NES controllers. The difference being $20 for two NES controllers, or $200 for two of these.

It was not my intention to slander the controllers or their cost in any way, I just did a terrible job of saying "these look to be worth the cost".

Have you done any latency measurements between your controller and the 8bitdo controller?

To be fair, the new Hyperkin controllers are pretty nice.  They have ten foot cords and good quality boards in them with coated traces where the pads press down.  They're a good alternative for someone who might be strapped for cash.
