Hello everyone and welcome to the latest installment of the Weekly Contests!  This week's game is going to be the ever-so-cute Rainbow Islands.  Here are the rules:
  • Play until Game Over
  • Take your picture on the Game Over screen
  • Highest score wins
  • GENRE: Action/Platformer

The contest ends Sunday, 9/14/14 at 11 PM NA time.  Your user name MUST be written on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid.  The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid.  No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted.  No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed.  You must take a picture of your computer monitor.  There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers.  Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, or save states if playing on an emulator.  Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests.  The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed.  Good luck everyone and have fun

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Maybe a stupid quetion but is continuing allowed? I know it resets your score but not the diamonds.

I don't think we've ever played a contest with continues.

I don't know why you would want to do this unless you get some sort of game clear bonus for the big diamonds?  I've never cleared this game before, so I don't know what sort of bonus the big diamonds give you other than a chance at getting an item from one of two chests or talking to a NPC after the boss fight.

Great! A game that I don't own and that I've never played before. Also, did you know Ocean made its own version for Europe? That game is different from the US release

This sucks ... I really want to spend some time with this game but I am going out of town over the weekend and that is going to severely limit the time I have to spend playing this. Of course this is the one game on the list I've been looking most forward to playing, hahaha!

This game is pretty weird.

I have a feeling I don't really "get it", yet.

made it well into Stage 3, and it feels really unsatisfying in terms of not really knowing if I'm doing it right

Just to clarify... this is the same game as "Rainbow Islands - The Story of Bubble Bobble 2", right?

This game is great, I wish I had a copy because I can usually beat Robby in world 4 before having to continue

I've never played this one, mainly because I don't own it. I'm not the biggest fan of emulating but it will have to do for this week. Looks like a fun game though!

When taking your picture at endgame, which endgame are we using: 7-4 or the real endgame 8-4? Also where should the picture taken? For 8-4 during the credits? I am not sure if they show it after you beat it on 7-4 and go to endgame.
That's right endgame, number 1 here I come.

I'd assume the "real" endgame, as long as the score doesn't reset or anything like that in between.

I don't know enough about the game to know how the score displays at that point, though, since it only appears to show up between levels or at game-over.

World 8 would definitely count in the score, and when you beat the game, after the credit, your score is shown so there's really no problem in getting a picture even when beating the game.

Had to use a continue but got to end game. It's hard to sneak in a game, because it is so long.

This game is super fun but so frustrating at times. I made it to either 3X3 or 3X4 by Game Over but I kept playing anyway and got beat down in World 4. This game is cute and cuddly and then the fangs come out when you least expect it. I've got tonight and tomorrow to play and that's probably it for me this week.
