Got a call from my CL wanted ad today.....guy has a Super Nintendo and 7 games.

My first bad sign:   He "got a price of $90 from GameStop."  Gee, been a while since I've seen a Super Nintendo at GameStop.

My second bad (maybe good?) sign:  He tells me at the end of the conversation that it's a "gold Super Nintendo."

I've never heard of such a thing.  Does it exist?  What is the story behind it?  What have they historically sold for?

This.  I guarantee he's just using "gold" as an advertising tactic for his yellowed system... or maybe he's just ignorant.  Either way, I'm sure it's just another yellowed system.

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking.  Seen the gold n64 but didn't think such a thing exists for SNES.  I wanna call him back just to point out all of his lies...I think it'd be fun.

Definitely call this douche and tell him that GameStop hasn't accepted SNES stuff for a decade. You have to call him out on this stuff, he is insulting your intelligence.

It is not a gold SNES unless it has been painted. Ask him if it is the special piss edition.

People have been trying to sell off their yellowed systems by saying they are gold ones.  Shady Sellers.

I called him back:

Me:  "Hi it's Bill, you called me earlier about the Super Nintendo."

Urine-Colored SNES Seller (UCSS):  "Oh hi, did you want to buy it?  I think it's a pretty good deal considering GameStop said it was worth $90 and I only want $50, plus I think this gold color is really rare."

Me:  "Well, I was strongly considering it, but once I called 7 local GameStops, and each of them told me they haven't sold Super Nintendo since Clinton was in office.....I got really confused.  I asked them if their employees would even quote prices on Super Nintendo, and they told me 'absolutely not.'

UCSS:  "Well, maybe my GameStop sells these on the side or something."

Me:  "Maybe they do.  Unfortunately, there's also NO SUCH THING as a gold Super Nintendo.  What you have there is a yellowed, nasty, ugly Super Nintendo that is fairly worthless.  Just wanted to thank you for your lies and being a complete waste of my time."

UCSS:  "I swear to you I'm not lying, maybe I just don't know as much about this stuff as you do."

Me:  "Maybe you should learn."

No such thing as a gold snes, but there was a legit gold controller that I think was a prize from a gaming competition in Brazil.

now that is really cool....something i'd like to have for my personal collection

I think it was sold on eBay, but I can't remember how much for.  Someone on here might know.
