"The Retro Fighters controller for N64 is a modern take on the N64 controller. We wanted to remake the N64 controller with next generation features and designs!"

It just passed funding and looks interesting. I'm skeptical of the build quality and the stick functionality and durability if it's only $20 but we'll see how it goes. Thoughts?

Looks interesting, but I'm also concerned about build quality at $20.

Hmm. Almost compelling enough to sign up for ks(even though the hori controller kind-of already covers this). Thanks for the heads up

I threw $20 at it. I hope it plays well and it looks like it has potential. I'm concerned about the build quality at that price as well.

I'd love to have one of those Hori controllers someday.

Well, if they are pricing these things just to break even and to get enough costs to setup manufacturing, $20 might not be bad. If they turn around and order another 10k units marked up to $30-40 then they would be making a net profit of probably $10-20 per controller sold after the KS.

I'm not saying this isn't a gamble but what isn't on kickstarter. If this is a real labor of love and they are selling these things intially at-cost just to get production rolling, I think $20 is quite reasonable.

I'd commit if they had a two-pack tier. Come on guys, wasn't that obvious? My wife and I need these for Mario Kart sessions.

Agreed, I would likely jump on a two-pack tier. The $200 VIP tier is intersting too, with getting all existing controllers and future controllers for life, but that is too rich for my blood.

Eh what the heck, I threw in $20 too. I can always use more controllers anyway.

Nah the normal one is fine for me.

Its not like the majority of the n64 games require super fast twitch reflexes or anything.

So it's a light gray Xbox One controller. I'm sorry, this thing does not carry on the N64 torch. The main reason is by merging the control stick and d-pad onto one hand, first person shooters can no longer be played in a modern twin-stick configuration. In those games, the d-pad was move/strafe and the stick was aiming.

Nope. I'm good with my Hori mini pad. Some games work better with the original controller too.

Here's the thing though, why should they build something high quality and high price when we have the Hori Pad? It makes sense to make something cheaper for people who wouldn't want to pay for it

Yes. So why would something at the same price point be necessary?

Here's some reasons I would pay that much theoretically:

-Could be better overall than the Hori controller (Better stick, button placement, etc etc)
-Bigger (seriously the Hori is damn small)
-Freshly manufactured (not having to buy a used product)
-Turbo button is useful (Mario Party button mashing comes to mind)

I've blown $20 on much worse things. Hopefully they get the joystick right.

My only concern at that price point is how well it handles. For $20 just buy another one when this one wears out. That's what I do with my cheap Logitech controllers.

I backed this earlier this week; for $20, I'll take the gamble.

I've made worse decisions with more than $20 in my life.

It states in the FAQ that MSRP after KS is $24.95. I fear it will be too cheaply manufactured...

I was tempted by this but never minded the original controller. Even my hori pad I have mixed feelings about. Going to wait for some people to try these before spending money on it.

If it turns out to be released in the next 2 years and get decent reviews, I'll definitely pick it up.

I agree.  If someone wants a super expensive, high build quality controller, they already have that option.  I'm probably going to throw $20 at this as well.  I'm just trying to decide if I want to do 1 or 2 controllers.

I'll wait on this. Not sure about how the build quality, size and placement of buttons would work out overall (A and B buttons look too low, setting it to be like a 40-50° angle which would make my right thumb hurt if the controller is too small)

Despite the form factor, I like the button layout on this controller the best: http://www.ebay.com/itm/N64-Super...~iV

I'm super skeptical on build quality and especially joystick quality. I don't think there's a single reasonable replacement N64 joystick, let alone one for $20, let alone with an entire third party controller built around it. There's Steel Sticks, but those are going to be $100. I wish they had performance details/demos for the joystick.

$20 for a product that currently exists only in CGI renders and a plastic shell mock-up? Yeah, I'll pass.

My son... gives me Helpful Nintendo Hints that are far too complex for the adult mind to comprehend. Here's a verbatim example: "OK, there's Ganon and miniature Ganon and there's these things like jelly beans and the miniature Ganon is more powerfuller, because when you touch him the flying eagles come down and the octopus shoots red rocks and the swamp takes longer." And the hell of it is, I know he's right. - Dave Barry

Do adapters exist to use different controllers on a N64?
