                        THE CLASSIC SERIE

Late 1993/early 1994 nintendo released the classic serie in europe.

the classic serie contains 9 games ,all developed by nintendo

- pinball
-super mario bros 3
-mario bros
-soccer
-tennis
-ice hockey
-donkey kong classics
-the legend of zelda
-the adventure of link

these games where released in the netherlands, france and germany (for the pal B area )

Some games that where released under the classic serie got new boxart ,but they all got a mario label on cart, box and manual!
Mario looks like a magician on this label (just like on the mario all stars snes cart)and has classic serie written under it

BUT if your a real classic serie freak like me,you have seen that the games zelda 1,2 and soccer dont have classic serie written under the mario label but classic serieS with a extra S ,a rare ERROR from nintendo???

the title classic serie under the mario logo,is also written in 3 different colors on box ,cart and manual, namely blue, green and red

green for pinball and tennis

blue for mario bros, super mario bros 3 and donkey kong classics

red for zelda 1 and 2,soccer AND ice hockey, ice hockey has a red label under the logo but says classic serie and not series like on the other red logo's

the STRANGE thing about all this is that you cant find any clue why they used colors??
there is no patern in the color use,the sport games got different colors and some games have noe code, other fra,but there is no patern in that ether
not to mention the classic serie and series error?

only the games where you can play with mario , donkey kong classic, smb 3,mario bros have a blue label.

Also, some of the classic serie carts have there cart code aded with -1
exsample zelda normal nes-zl-fra    classic serie  nes-zl-fra-1

there also where classic serie games for snes and gameboy and there even have been seen pal a carts.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE GAMES 1 by 1

PINBALL                   cart code   nes-pn-noe

a easy to find classic serie game,it says classic serie in green label on box, cart and manual
the box has changed and has a famicom look

SOCCER                    cart code    nes-sc-fra-1

easy to find find classic serie,it says classic serieS in red on cart, box and manaul, the boxart changed in a cartoon like soccer art

SUPER MARIO BROS 3       cart code  nes-um-noe

easy to find but tricky! did you get the real deal?this game only got a classic serie label on box!!! not on cart and manual! they are the same as the normal version, the box got a nice green touch tho, mine is a from a factory sealed so legit.

PART 2 OF THE CLASSIC SERIE WILL BE ADED SOON

Maybe they thought 'serie' was a typo, like I did the first 500 times I saw it.

PART 2    CLASSIC SERIE

  MARIO BROS     cart code   nes-mc-noe

This game got the coolest new look of them all! a real mario cartoon look, and thats not all!
The game plays way better than the original! its got much better grapichs and plays smooth and fast! its got that real arcade feeling and fun with 2 players.
its a complete other version then you know.
IF YOU ONLY PICK UP 1 GAME FROM THE CLASSIC SERIE TAKE THIS 1!!!
the only game thats different with gameplay.

 TENNIS  cart code    nes-te-noe-1

Medium hard to find, looks totally different then its original box,famicon/cartoon look.

ICE HOCKEY      cart code    nes-hy-noe

Also medium hard to find,no big changes in boxart

ZELDA       cart code     nes-zl-fra-1

Whats this zelda and grey,we only no the gold version and that 1 looks cool this is not cool,i can remember that a customer in a toy store refused a grey version, there not loved and rare, still today you see on ebay: zelda rare gold version!!,yeah right

DONKEY KONG CLASSIC,CLASSIC SERIE    cart code    nes-dj-fra-1

the longest tittle of the serie, and a strange 1 twice classic  3 time it was released in another form, the only thing the changed was adding the classic logo, hard to find

ZELDA 2 THE ADVENTURE OF LINK   cart code  nes-al-fra-1

The black sheep,or better the grey sheep, the only zelda game that dropped the legend of zelda tittle.
Its a side view zelda game and was not loved by al zelda/nintendo players,ad to this the hated grey color instead of gold and there you have it the rarest game of the classic serie!
I only saw this game cib(got them both) 2 times in 3 jears searching for the classic serie games.
So its FREAKING RARE!
If you need this game to complete your classic serie, GOOD LUCK

............................................................................................................

why all this? i love  the classic serie and wanted to give it a face, name and credit, they are lost rarety in my opion and i dont  own website ,so i thought lets share it here with all my nintendo brothers.
so lets give them there rightfull place at nintendoage nintendoage?!
or things will get ugly

You should have made it into a eZine article instead of just a thread....

    Hey dutch!

Nice work BTW! If this should be helpfull feel free to use it. This is where I am standing for now - hope all is correct

    -pinball (NOE + ?)
-super mario bros 3 (german only NOE)
    -mario bros (NOE and ITA)
    -soccer (NOE + ?)
    -tennis (NOE + ?)
    -ice hockey (NOE + ?)
    -donkey kong classics (FRA/FAH only)
-the legend of zelda (FRA/FAH only)
-the adventure of link (FRA/FAH only)

About "Serie" and "Series": The word Serie would be the correct word for the german copys - do You checkd if the codes and writing got anything in common?

i looked at this also nikki, but zelda 1,2 and soccer are the only games that say series!
these games got the fra code!
but donkey kong classic, classic serie says classic serie and has a fra code also.

my collection

tennis
pinball
ice hockey
super mario bros 3
mario bros
.......................................   these all got the noe code (germany)

zelda 1
zelda 2
donkey kong classic serie
soccer
.............................................. these all got the fra code (france/holland)

this is what i said in my story, when i look at your list,i see a soccer with a noe code, that can be interresting? you got it? that would be the only game that got both codes noe and fra.

i never saw a zelda game with noe code

mario bros and 3 i never saw with fra code

donkey kong is also a fra only i think

so ,if there where a game with double code its got to be a sports game.

i leave pal a out of this for now

IF you look at this do you think and see the same thing i do?
IT looks like the fra code games are a lot harder to find!

all the classic serie games are verry limited tho

Do anyone have some advertisment of the Classic serie from back then? Thinking that old game magazines and Nintendos own magazines in the countries they were sold in should have at least mention the Classic serie?
