I have to admit I still like the sound of PurpleGanon, but of those names in the poll I think CartsandConsoles is probably the best one, with RetroGauntlet being a close second. I do kind of agree about the overall generic-ness of the names.

I basically agree with the above. I think the personality of the name would develop over time and the site establishes itself. Nintendoage seemed generic and meaningless to me at one point as well. I voted C&C but could see Retrogauntlet or purpleganon if something with a little more personality was needed.

I don't like any of the names in the poll. I voted other. I do like purpleganon although i understand the argument against it. I think it is memorable and will get you some notoriety right off the bat.

I'm trying to think of suggestions that would reflect the exodus from NA without being generic. Struggling.

Purple Ganon was the one that struck me the most from the other thread. It's like Bone the Fish, a reference to the prior thing.

I voted twice.

Once for "1Up Legacy" since the website 1up.com is long defunct I think it's free real estate. It also acknowledges that we're "vintage/retro" instead of modern game enthusiasts.

The other vote is still for my domain, vglobby.com that again, I'm willing to give up 100% for free if everything is owned publicly and no single person or group owns it.

We've been through this.

The current owner will not update the site.

There are security exploits that can't or won't be implemented that are one malicious attack away from bringing the forum down for good.

Google Purple Ganon and see the first thing that pops up. It's the urban dictionary definition. If we named the site Purpleganon we would either be right below or above that link to Urban Dictionary. It would turn a lot of people off from the site.

Having strings attached, in any capacity, would be reason to pass on even the "best" domain name.

We're very, very likely getting a new NA when the current owner decided to let this one go to shit. If the person/people/group involved profit it, I'm completely ok with that if they're transparent with what they're doing.

They're creating a space that I'll enjoy, so if they make some money off that (especially if some/all goes back into the site) I see no problem in the least.
