This was a thrift store find. I'm not sure what old PC games go for or if there's much value in them at all, and this one must be pretty common. It's a sealed Wolfenstein 3D on 3.5" floppy for IBM and compatible PC's distributed by GT Software. There's a little bit of box crushing and as far as I know it could be a reseal. (Pics to follow). Let me know if you have any ideas.

Wow... I don't think mine has the Doom demo in it though. Seems kind of high to me, though I'd gladly sell it at that price lol.

I don't see anything on the box about it.

There's a place in the top right corner where you can tell a sticker used to be on the plastic though. maybe it was listed on there.

lol yeah I doubt very much I'll get that much for it. I'll probably just toss this in my "for sale" thread at some point and see if I get any offers on it. I was never much of a PC game player or collector. I'd really like to find a concrete price range for it. I guess a little more research is in order.

Yeah sell it, even if you got a quarter of what that ebay luck out did you should be smiling. Odds are you'll get at least half what that one did, probably closer to that as it's not common, it's sealed, and it's Wolf3D. A nice perk is, stock Wolf3D still works even in Win7, no idea why, but it does. And if that ebay sale stock image matches what that dude sold entirely, then that book has to be in your sealed box.

I am pretty sure that other auction sold high because of Doom - the original big box release is pretty damn valuable/rare. If you do a completed listings search for "Doom 3.5" you will see two $500 sales, although those auctions say "Mail Order" - not sure what that means exactly. PC stuff is hard to price because the collector market is so small. I don't think sealed raises the price in a huge way like it does with NES/SNES games. I'd say a sealed Wolf3D is worth between $50 and $100, and that it would take a while to sell at that price, but I am not entirely certain. I also think that yours has an original seal, by the way.

More on this: I don't know if the hint book is valuable as some people are alluding to - I just sold a hint book in a lot with the CD-ROM versions of Wolfenstein 3d and the expansion and it all went for about $30. Also, the auction linked previously didn't have a Doom demo in the box with Wolfenstein, it was a separate, factory sealed retail box of the Doom shareware version.

What I would do, if I were you, is set up an eBay auction and set a super high BIN, like $250, and allow people to send you best offers. Just say in the listing "I have no idea what this is worth so I set the BIN high, send me some offers". You might get lucky!

Thanks for the inp think that's what I shall do. I'll put it up on Ebay and see what I get for it. I really just don't like dealing with Ebay as much any more. I like the way things work around here much better. It's a lot slicker and so far a hell of a lot less stressful. And no fees! Too bad it's not a sealed copy of Wolfenstein on the SNES lol.

I remember when I sold wing commander kilrathi saga many years ago and I got like $125 or so for it on ebay, only cost me $20 at price club(aka costco now) and that had me laughing. I never liked WC3, and the other 2 on that one disc I just copied.

I am interested in this game, but I am not sure if I have a VGA card to play it? Seems like you need some super mainframe to play this bad boy on!

That's why I'm getting rid of it. 256 colors is just too much for my machine.

I don't doubt that price, this is an iconic game and big-box PC collectors routinely pay $100+ from my store for HTF releases.

Damn that's sweet. Thanks for the info Dan. I'll be pretty happy with whatever I get for it. It was a 99 cent find for me.
