I'm actually posting a score early for once

As Gutsman said in an earlier post, these contests do bring out the best in us and all the great skilled players make us all better, and I'm glad about that and thank you all too. I more than tripled my score from two years ago and it leaves me wanting more. Unfortunately I'm going to be gone until at least Sunday afternoon so this will be my only posted score for the week, of course coming on a week that I felt motivated.

Two years ago I got tenth with that lower score, but now, with how good you all are, I'll feel lucky for my score to hold up for even a top ten! Good luck to all for the rest of the way this week.

If anyone of you max out the score, take a picture of where you maxed it. Maxing out the score earlier in the game will take precedence, if necessary.

Tom could probably correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's possible to max out the score without the 100k bonus that you get for beating Super Shredder at the end of the game. Assuming that I'm correct, balloon_kid's idea of most lives remaining at the end of the game seems like it would be a good tiebreaker.

I seem to remember coming close to a max out without the final bonus, but I still needed it. I wasn't going for max points throughout the game though. Who knows, it may be possible without Super Shredder?

It would take some time to test, more than I have right now. I'm actually travelling this week, otherwise I might have given this one a try for old times' sake.

I've been fairly busy as well or I'd test it out myself. If I manage to max the score out again, I'll try to keep track as I go, but I'm pretty sure that the score can't be maxed out legitimately without the Super Shredder bonus.

Ah, didn't know about that. Well, then anyone that get to Shredder with a score of 900k should take a picture before battling him, so the player with the highest score before beating him (and beating him to get the 100k) gets precedence. Sounds good?

That makes sense. If someone gets to Super Shredder with a score over 900k and manages to beat the game, they can just add on 100k to get their actual score.

I went back and checked the 2013 contest thread and you didn't play that week. Maybe you have been secretly practicing on your own.

Well, maxing out the score before Shredder just might be possible or very close to possible if your trying to get the most points out of enemies. It is very risky though. What makes it seem more likely, however, is that I noticed all small type enemies give out 1,000 pt. bonuses if you do the down + B toss attack. Not just mousers, but the electric jelly fish on the surfing stage, those weird robots that split from a robot egg, and those copter like robots in the Technodrome all give you 1,000 pt. bonuses as well with that attack.

If someone pull it off, he will simply need to take a screenshot of the moment he maxed it, and still get to beat Shredder in order to get precedence.

Yeah, I might have jumped to conclusions too soon.  I've had this game since I was 7 so 1cc'ing isn't much of a challenge.  What is a challenge is the tricky scoring.  Enemies are worth more or less depending on what type of hit you land on them when you defeat them.  Tying to max my score with idea kills, I've noticed I've been taking a lot more hits and losing lives quicker.  Also, up until a practice run last night, I had no idea Mousers were worth a cool 1,000 pts. each if you killed them with the Down + B toss attack.  No wonder point pressing the Mother Mouser is banned.

As far as I know, mousers are the only thing that give you more points by killing them with something other than your standard attack. I'm pretty sure the bosses give you a fixed amount of points no matter what. I used the throw attack most of the time and managed 981,600 so if you use the regular attack throughout most of the game, you should be able to max out the score.

It's 300 points normal attack, 200 jump or throw, and 100 for special attack.  The throw gives you bonus points if you hit someone else with it though.  I *THINK* the small foes give you the bouns as a glitch.  Since there's a set number of foes, you want to use the normal attack if there's only one left, or try to use the throw into another one to kill them for max score.

*UPDATE* 999900 (1,086,200)

Obviously, I think it may be possible to max out the score prior to beating Super Shredder, but it's going to take some serious dedication. This score was the result of flipping a whole bunch of those electric things in the surfboard level. I also flipped every small enemy I came across. No point racking was used. I beat the Mother Mousers with jump kicks, so I get minimal points for whatever mousers I do kill in those battles.

EDIT: Mousers are a pain to grab before they grab you.

Thanks for writing. I apologize for the delay in responding to your email during this busy time of year.
In regard to your email, it is great to hear that you have found a copy of Perfect Dark for the Nintendo 64. Perfect dark was a first person shooter game that was released in May of 2000. I personally enjoyed this game a lot during my mid-teen years since it allows for up to four players to play at one time. All the Perfect Dark cartridges were black.

I hope this information is what you are looking for.

Response I received from Nintendo customer support when I asked if they knew any thing about a black Perfect Dark cart.

Wow, that's a great score! I think my score going into the Super Shredder fight was in the 920s the time I maxed the score out, so 967,600 is really impressive!

Leatherhead is a royal pain, man. I managed to beat him without losing a life for the first time ever on this most recent playthrough.
