I guess I don't get the history on it, but in that rude little faq something about others say it's a $600 game and that he says it's 1 of 50 that exist. Any way to verify that bs, or is he just scamming?

I'm familiar with the series and I know there is a JPN version of the game that sells around $100. I'm not really sure about the US version though. They made new neogeo games until 2004, so it's not like it's one of the last ones or anything. I suppose to get the true info on it, you'll have to check out neo-geo.com.

Yeah, he's off by a full digit. If the game were a mint US copy, I could see him getting $800, but by the looks of who he bought it from, I wouldn't doubt this copy has been "freaked".

The add makes him sound like an asshole too, no idea why he'd do that if he were actually interested in selling the game.

I'm sure he's not going to get $6000 for it without any kind of documentation to support what he claims.

Check out this really awesome WTB thread that I found, I heard this guy wants games at the cheapest rate possible!  Now on the look out for Unlicensed NES!

Um, if anything NGF games are worth less than their non-bastardized counterparts. . .

Seeing that he referenced Dion and some of the other Big Timers, I have a feeling this ad is more of a joke than anything else.

....and I completely agree with you.....except for this game. KoF2K is the only NGF cart worth owning in my opinion.

Oh yeah, Dion is a tool.

Neo-Geo.com's AES Price Guide has it at $500-700. I don't know how long it's been since it's been updated, but at the same time, I highly doubt it got 10X more expensive than it's listed unless it hasn't been updated in like 5-10 years, and even then.

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

^ It was updated fairly recently as less than a year ago this title wasn't included in the price guide at all.

NGF had exclusive rights to the English KoF2K. Regardless of what they did to the inserts, their "less than 100" supply of the games are the only examples of the English version....ever.  I don't collect the Japanese games (except the exclusives) making it necessary to get 2K or not complete the KoF set. At the very least, the insert is the only modification. No stickers on the carts or manuals and no sac parts. I think they charged $400-500 at release time so $600-700 now is not that bad. No way in the world it's at 6K. Actually it wouldn't surprise me if it was really Dion trying to sell it that high under an assumed name.

Ah, I do remember something like this happening but I didn't recall the title.  That makes a lot more sense now that you spelled it out.

As horrible as it sounds, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on some of those prototypes in Dion's garage.  Unfortunately, I don't have a half a million dollars or a crotch-rocket, so I doubt that's going to happen anytime soon.

I would never pay more than $10 for this and neither should anyone because it's fake hack bullshit. Supporting Dion Dakis = FTL.

I didn't know you could charge a 200 dollar inconvienence fee for flagging on Craig's list. Either way, the guy comes off as a total douche bag via the written word in the ad.

This is a legitimate release. Look at the SNK/Playmore vs NGF court records. The court awarded NGF the rights to the English packaging. Like it or not, it's real. Considering they aren't in Dions hands anymore, I don't see how it would support him in any way.

By the way, aren't 1/4 of the Neo games in your collection conversions???
