played a game today to update my margin to 26. I always give up everything in the first half. I probably need to play multiple games in a row to get in a groove.

Hmm, not sure what's going on there, but that doesn't appear to be Tecmo Super Bowl for SNES.  Which game are you playing?

Oh and I don't believe Bo Jackson is as overpowered in the SNES version. So not sure how good the Raiders would be

Shoulda had a better win but I couldn't figure out how to call a timeout, and my returner decided to fumble a punt which they promptly returned for their only points

1,108,400. Took forever on this playthrough trying to max out points while also trying to beat it without getting to my last life.

Haha, it's my scrappy cell phone camera.  Does strange things sometimes.

Got a 55 point margin. Will update pic when i get the internet back and running. Won 62-7. I gave up that td with less than 2 minutes left on 3rd diwn. Huge fluke gain. Pissed me off so much. I responded with a score in 20 seconds but couldnt get the ball back and only won by 55

Well, damn. Tried a new strategy in putting off all plane purchases and saving straight for the Efreet, and wound up losing only 1 life then entire run(tried to scratch my nose and I got swarmed). I'd have to raid about 100 or more quartermaster caravans to get my score up to xjwebb1982's.

On the other hand, if there's ever a low-score contest for this game, I'd probably do pretty good. I'll post a new score eventually.

I think you can probably beat my score. You had 6 lives left when you beat it. If you kept replaying that last stage and intentionally died up until 1 life remaining you may be able to earn the points needed. You also get an extra life every 100-150k so you'd maybe get two more lives to burn up if you kept replaying the level. With a total of about 8 lives you could replay that level 7 more times and just make sure you beat it with one life remaining and I think you can beat my score. That's pretty much what I did (plus I did destroy a lot of the convoys for points and needed cash) but I did die several times on the second to last level (hardest boss fight in my opinion - the one where you have to shoot upwards to destroy it). That last level has the most points so if you no death the game to the last stage and intentionally replay the last level until you only have one extra life remaining, then when you beat it I think you can have the best score. Good luck!!!

I dunno, the actual stages don't give that many points. The bulk of points come from the bosses, which there aren't very many of. I beat the last stage on a previous run, after a continue(so the score reset) and wound up with only around 125,000, which the last boss gave 100,000 of. No other way around it; gonna have to grind on some quartermasters, lol. I've found using a T Lazer(while firing main gun) on the convoy takes them out with one shot, to cut down on time.

I'll be honest, I was just kind of shocked I got as far as I did on one life. I'd been dying to the battleship and rolling carrier all day long. I should intentionally died and racked up some points, but I kinda wanted to see if I could beat it with only 1 life lost. Going to try for a 1-life run soon, and a high score one.

Un squadron scoring is busted. You can farm infinite points off the bosses. Sorry to be downer, but I can just sit in place and farm points from a certain boss. Takes forever, but no skill required. Im not gonna bother playing it further because of this.

I need to put together a list of snes shmups that arent fucking broken with scoring, too bad un squadron isnt one of them.

Well the best I can do is prohibit point pressing on bosses

I already know your response to that, but these are the sort of caveats that come with the territory on these things

Why would you farm bosses? Farm quartermaster convoys.

I don't know what the statute on changing up rules are(since we're already at the end of the first week of june), but in a future contest, a furthest distance/lowest score contest might work out. The only confusing bit is how to judge distance accurately, since you can choose which stage you go to. Maybe something like how many stages finished, instead of which stage you end on. I dunno, just throwin' out ideas.

The point-farming in this game is so slow, it really takes some dedication to get anywhere with it. You can get 5,000 per quartermaster convoy, but there are times where there's no convoy on the map, and you are forced to play an actual stage. SO, it's not foolproof. On at least two of my previous runs, there were no convoys when I reached the last stage, and had to play the stage.

That actually was the original idea, but it would of just been too hard to enforce it with the way it will force certain levesl on you, and since it does not tell you level names.  Imagine reaching the 3rd set of levels, but accidently selecting the wrong one.

Because you can farm the bosses indefinately, sitting in one spot and racking up your score as high as you want.

Just in-case it needs clarifying, what webb did where he burned through his extra lives on the final level is allowed. Exploiting scoring loopholes like pegboy has discovered is what is prohibited
