PLEASE READ THE ENTIRETY OF THIS THREAD BEFORE YOU BID!!!!
Edit: Peoples' bids who did not have a NintendoAge account prior to today will be automatically disqualified. This is to prevent anyone from creating a second account if they get outbid. Sorry for any inconvenience!
Hello and welcome to the auction for the limited edition copies of Study Hall that will be available. This has been a long project in the making, and delayed way longer than I anticipated, but it looks like we're finally ready to make these available to you all. This auction will be run the same way as the Nintendo World Championships NintendoAge Edition and the Homebrew World Championship cartridges. For those of you that weren't around when these auctions took place, It works like this:
- The auction will run for an undisclosed amount of time.
- You only get to make ONE bid. This will be your ONLY BID.
- When I close the auction, the top 10 bids will each receive one limited edition copy.
So as you can see, you need to place a bid that you think is high enough to win. And you can't wait until the last second to see what everyone else has bid, because I could end the auction, at any moment, before you even place a bid.
Keep in mind that my previous limited editions that I made, the Ultimate Frogger Championship Pink Lady Frog editions are worth upwards of $1,000 now days. I'm not saying these will reach that level, but I'm just trying to give you some context!
I will be putting a voucher for a free copy of my next game, Leisure Suit Larry (title subject to change), in the copies of the two highest bids. If you're one of the top two bids, you will receive the voucher and you will receive a FREE copy of Leisure Suit Larry Limited Edition when they are available. This voucher will not expire. I intend that game to be released in 2014.
When the auction has ended, you will be required to send your payment to me via paypal or personal check within a week of the auction end. At the same time, I have a week from the point you send me payment to get off my butt and mail you your copy. The cost of shipping will be included in your bid, so no extra money will need to be sent, assuming you live in the states. If you live in Canada or overseas, please know that I will charge you EXACT SHIPPING from my address to your address, and I'll ship it however you'd like me to do so. We can cross that bridge when we get there.
This game is
unique in the fact that there is
on-board memory storage. No, there is no battery backup that will fail on you. This is flash memory. All of your high scores will save to it and
never go away! No need to write down your scores in your journal and wind up losing it when you go to look for it in ten years.
This game also has
ACHIEVEMENTS!
Yes, the first Nintendo NES game to have achievements. These will also save to the cartridge, so you don't have to try to get them all in one sitting. There are options to erase the memory for these two options individually, if you'd like to start over at any time, but that is something you have full control over! For clarification, you can reset the scores, and you can reset the achievements, or you can reset both.
After you beat the game, there are
challenge stages for added replay value! There is also a
full 80s soundtrack throughout the game, playing some of my favorite songs. If you hate them, I'm sorry! I even added a badass 80s radio from the title screen that you can put on, sit back, and listen to the 80s jams in all their 8-bit glory without even having to play the game. Of course, the songs are on a loop, so you'll probably have to work your way back to the controller to skip to the next song after ten minutes or so, because who wants to listen to "Dancing Queen" for longer than that? Well, I do. But that's my deal...
The game is slightly different than the retail version that will be coming out in a few weeks. This version is called the "Cheet Shete Addition" (typos are on purpose). You have an options menu with full control over what level you're playing, if you want infinite lives, the gender of your character, the speed your character can climb, etc. It's a fun little bonus.
There's also an
easter egg in the game (not limited edition exclusive!) with instructions on what to do if you find it. If you are the first to find it, you will win a special prize: a single copy of a puzzle game I created, which will never be put on any other cartridge. You will be the only person to own this game. Pretty cool, eh? Good luck finding it.
Anyway, that's all the info I can think of! Your bids are going to a good cause: helping an unemployed man pay his bills. Thank you so much for your interest!
I also might move the "Study Hall" stickers to the spine to make it look a little more clean. Need to play around with it a little to get the look just right.
I repeat, the item you receive may look slightly cosmetically different than the one pictured!
Included are: cartridge, manual, case, index cards featuring hall passes, report cards, etc.
Retail boxes will be available from UncleTusk. He will put those up immediately. When they're up I will update this thread with the actual URL.
If you bid excess amounts of money you can pick your number.
