Then all I could think of was the boyfriend in "Coming to America" ... just plain nasty ...

I'm guessing he's talking about the plastic bag that the game comes in. Those typically have hole-punch-sized holes in them.

Strange. I've never heard anyone call the baggy a sleeve before but whatever floats your boat.

Pictures would be really helpful here, as codes don't tell the whole story on NES games, since some box variants recycled codes as well as some posters/inserts having different game lineups/pics with the same codes.

Just a suggestion though, thanks for sharing the info regardless.

This thread is pretty awesome but I have to admit I die a little inside every time a new sealed game is opened

Duck Tales 2 is incorrect, the cartridge, box and manual codes are wrong. It should be this:

Duck Tales 2
- Cartridge (NES-DL-USA)
- Box (NES-DL-USA)
- Manual (NES-DL-USA)
- Epilepsy Warning Sheet (NES-DOC-USA/CAN)
- Registration Card (CAP-NES-US-3)
- Capcom Poster/Advert (CAP-NES-US-5)
- Nintendo Power Subscription Card (GP-NES-USA)
- Flat Black Dust Sleeve

You're right. I opened that DuckTales 2 long ago and either transcribed it wrong, or Mike typoed when he added my info to his list. Either way, I'll see if I can get him to correct it on his next update, whenever that may be.

In the meantime, another one opened up:

Legend of Kage
- Cartridge (NES-KA-USA)
- Box (NES-KA-USA)
- Manual (NES-KA-USA)
- Taito Advert/Poster "Bubble Bobble WHAM!" (TAI-NES-US)
- Taito "Action Poster Order Form" Registration Card (TAI-NES-US)
- Nintendo Power "Introducing Nintendo Power" Subscription Card (PMG-US)
- Flat Black Dust Sleeve

-------------------------

My mantra, as worded by SamSpade on 06/12/12:
I don't resell to fund my collection, I don't treat this hobby like a second job, I don't care if my collection is worth ten bucks or ten thousand because I never plan on selling it. Seriously, what does the value have to do with anything if you never plan on selling? Speculation doesn't mean jack shit to me at this point, I just want to play my nes games...

WTB Cdn sealed black boxes, sealed Cdn first party titles.    I.e. the "mattel" Cdn boxes with both french and english.   Mainly black boxes, zelda, link, and tyson, but let me know what you have.    I am interested in anything I don't already have!

Damn, fifteen thousand posts!  I bow to your magnificence!!!

On topic: Considering the solid number of contributions over the last three and a half years since Mike last updated the list, I sent him a personal email begging him to do another update; we'll see where this goes.  Though, I'll be opening sealed NES games for the rest of my life regardless...

EDIT: Hey Bronty, we're just about to hit ten years here on NA, you know...  Crazy!

Well, the hard copy is updated, save for a few items that are needing confirmation of something (PMs are all sent out, just awaiting replies). Then after a few finishing touches I'll be updating the main list. Thanks to everyone keeping this project alive!

"It's always amazing to me how some of the most worthless games from a gaming perspective tend to fetch outrageous amounts of money. But then again, it could be said that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'm curious if the high bidder of the $873.04 Stadium Events (cart-only) realizes that it's nowhere nearly as rare as about 20+ games I can think of that sell for 1/10th that amount?  At any rate, I wanted to draw attention to this trend: if people say it's rare, it must be true, and therefore it must be had at any price."

Pictures are nice, but what I really need is the item codes on all the items, and a brief description of each.  If you look at the guide or any of the submissions in the thread, you'll see what I mean.

Just a quick update for anyone who's interested: Mike has finally posted a new version of the list over on Gamefaqs, current up to the point of my last post in this thread.

He does plan on keeping up with this, it's just that with the high price of sealed games nowadays, submissions have slowed to a trickle. They are still coming in though, as a few people such as myself will always have at least a couple new titles to add every year; but from here on out, the updates are only going to be every couple of years. Rest assured though that I will rag on him to post an update whenever an update is due...

Has he put anything new on that list that isn't in this thread? I'm working on the same type of list as well and I have permission from him to use his list.

I don't know; you'd have to compare your list against his to find out.  The easiest way would be to compare numbers: have you noticed that he's got a bunch of running totals down near the bottom of his faq?  Just compare his totals to yours and see if they're the same.

Anyway, I've got a couple more.  The first title is listed already, but the one I just opened is a bit different from the entry that's already there:

James Bond Jr.
- Cartridge (NES-JB-USA)
- Box (NES-JB-USA)
- Manual (NES-JB-USA)
- Nintendo Power Supscription Card (GP-NES-USA)
- Grey Epilepsy Warning Sheet (NES-DOC-USA)
- Textured Black Dust Sleeve

Ghoul School
- Cartridge (NES-Y3-USA)
- Box (NES-Y3-USA)
- Manual (NES-Y3-USA)
- Nintendo Power Supscription Card (PMG-USA-1)
- Electro Brain "Free Games" Warranty Registration Card (ELE-NES-US)
- Grey Epilepsy Warning Sheet (NES-DOC-USA)
- Flat Black Dust Sleeve
