just found this on my local craigslist. Guy is looking for $400 for everything. The TV looks like its in rough shape and he says it has its issues...  I think I already own all the other NES games he lists.

I just looked on ebay and very nice versions of this TV have sold between $200-250.  What do you think a safe offer is to make on one in this condition alone? $100ish?

Not sure i would bother with one that is 'tricky to get working' but yeah maybe around a hundred bucks would be ok to have it sit on the shelf.

I'm guessing the "tricky" part is the pin connector and they can be changed out on these too.

If you haven't talked to him yet, make sure you point out all of the flaws when trying to talk him down... broken foot, missing doors, controllers, etc.

Changing out the pin connector is really unnecessary unless the pins are rusted. Usually just some cleaning solvent (alcohol or windex to preference) on a game and repeat until no more black comes out. That's how I fixed mine when issues start to arise.

I wouldn't spend more than $200 max on the TV, depending on how "beat up" it is.

he said it works if you put the game and 'make sure you push it all the way to the right and put it in hard... once it moves the the left it usually stops working. After talking to him I think I can get this relatively cheap if the other guy doesn't pick it up. keep your fingers crossed for me.

A lot of good info in this thread...

to include what people have paid, for controllers, remote and such.
Also has some info if you want to change the pin's out.

Don't bother at $400 that tv is overpriced. I did some fast research on one very recently while doing negotiations on picking one up. The consensus seemed to be that the black original controllers value up to $50 each, and the tv remote about double that, and that TV is missing both. Furthermore the tv itself seems to have some decent damage to it including missing front doors, and even if it didn't like the one I have, I just can't see that price being anywhere near reasonable.

I mean if you have to have one just to have it, go for it, but I'd wait for something in a lot more nicer shape, preferably with the parts (remote and 2 controllers) it came with.

Mine when I got it was $225, I was told that $300 would have been a fair offer. Mine has all 4 feet, all the doors, the 2 controllers, and the remote. It came with 7 games of which none were worth more than $1-5 at best so they were no factor into the price. I personally wouldn't pay more than $200 for it max, and even then I'd shoot for less since it's testy and damaged.

I can grab it for $85. Worth trying to talk him down more?

Picking it up tomorrow. Told him $85 w/ remote $75 w/o. He said he'd have to look but he's pretty sure he doesn't have it.

Wowowow hell of a deal even in that shape for sure. Good job talking him down. I'm shocked honestly.

What did your little back and forward look like that got him that far off his asking price? Did you just ask for the system alone, mention they're not the black controllers? I'm just curious as that's a hell of a price slashing.

I called him last night and asked if the lot was available. He said he still had it but someone else had called him first, but if that person flaked he'd let me know. I asked him then if he'd consider selling just the TV and he said yes. I asked what he wanted and he said make an offer. I told him I knew it was missing a few things and gave him a range between $75-100. I figured he'd laugh at that. He said OK and he'd let me know tomorrow.

He texted me around 8am to say he had not heard from the first buyer and would give him until lunch. I hadn't heard from hit by 3pm and asked if it was gone. He said he still had it and he'd sell it for $85 but. Would he keep the 001 NES controllers so he could still sell his console. I said sure but I assumed that means the TV did not have the black controller of the remote. He said he was not sure and would have to check when he got home.

At this point I figured I would take a shot and said I'd pay his $85 if it did have the remote and I'd pay $75 if he didn't. He laughed, said he'd take the gamble but would Google to see if it really had a remote. I se t him a pic of the TV with the remote. He laughed again and said he really wasn't going to Google it. I then said, lets split it at $80 for honesty sake. He came back with 'No, you seem like a good person, you can have it for the $75. I know I don't have the remote.' To top it off he is meeting me at my work to drop it off.

Well can't be too much of a creeper, if he tries to rape or kill you at work it's too public of a place.

He sounds nice enough and appeared to be acting pretty square about it so odds are you'll come out of it with the tv and another to add to the small but growing list we have here.

Good deal! I paid $150 for mine, but mine has all feet and both doors and is in great overall condition. The only downfall was that he didn't have the remote or any controllers (big surprise).

I always try to meet people from Craigslist at a neutral site that has nothing to do with either of us. Usually either a post office or Walmart/Mall parking lot.
