Cool.

I wonder if anybody has taken the chassis of a broken ROB and installed a micro controller and new servos to make a REAL robot with it... You could give it a vocalizer and voice recognition and make a crude "Mr. Sbatso" machine to sit on your desk and talk to...how cool would that be?

I believe one of those hands would be worth what you paid for the whole thing.

And Nathan: program it to pour me a beer and I'll buy six of them.

I guess you could install a cup holder on the base, and pipe a tap through one of the arms. Then a solenoid could control the valving and pour on command...

And with the voicebox he could make bartender small talk!

Haha, nah, you'd still need to have it hooked up to a kegerator, so it's not like it would fly off the shelf.

I should do that for my office, though. Damn that would be sweet.

arch_8ngel: "Bartender, another round please!"

ROB: (in digitized voice) "Coming right up!"

Well, the problem I see would be making sure you acurately detect the presence of a cup (so you don't get beer all over your desk) and then accurately regulating the pour (so you don't get beer all over your desk). If either of those goof up and ROB goes tap-happy...I wouldn't want to deal with the inevitable recalls and liability.
