Nintendofans, I also like consoleage it pays respect to Na and it's not far from the truth that all consoles need love.

I still feel like this is a mistake. Hope Im wrong but I dont see this really going the way people think. Its going to fragment the userbase and your only going to get the same people that show up now loyally. Id say ride with this site. Security really doesnt matter to me. I dont give sensitive information here anyway.

Back after a long hiatus.

I wasn't around way back when. But I remember reading that a mass exodus happened years back on DigitPress and AtariAge that led to the rise of NA.

Last I checked DP is mostly dead, while AtariAge seems to still have a decent sized following but with very little interest in post crash gaming.

I say give it a shot. Worst comes to worst we all migrate back here or on Instagram like where the other half of the missing NA users are hanging out these days.

Got any of these for sale? Sell them to me. I also buy other NES Publisher inserts, and even GB/GBC, and SNES inserts too.

Just don't be surprised if one day you go to log into this site and you can't and it's gone forever.  No one wants that to happen but the point is to plan now while you still can.

Man, someone should think about updating this place.  Did you know NA doesn't even have SSL?

"Can't be named after Nintendo..."

"Ok, we are thinking about a .com that references a Nintendo character"

I know you guys are motivated, but the name sticks for the age of the site and can even be referenced for years. If you want it to include the whole gaming community and it be obvious from the name, you need something else. I'll think about but guys, there's nothing wrong with taking more than 24 hours to come up with a name.

TL;DR: I think you can do better.

I use to own "KonamiCode.com" but that was yeeeeeeaaaaars ago.  I don't know why I let it go.  I think it was because I never did anything with it and, it's a dirty domain reseller secret but for every 1,000,000 domains being squatted, only 1 sells.

My opinion, the other name is fine but you're immediately alienating new users by naming the site after a joke they dont know about. Fun for a few months but will definitely lose its appeal. Then we are stuck having to explain it to every single person we meet and most people will not care.

Keep it ambiguous but specific.

I've heard (might just be a rumor) that too get on purpleganon.com that you must read through every single thread on NA. Only after that you get a code to type into google search to get access.. Any truth?

Yeah, it's not the lack of security on the information (though that is a concern), but that one bored script kiddie will find the site and wreck it because the board software is ancient and the new owner has made it clear that they have no intention of updating it. At all.

BTW, why can't we use AGE in the name, like ConsoleAge? AFAIK the word age isn't unique to the NintendoAge sites. There's AtariAge and whatnot.

If anything Dain was accused of stealing it from AtariAge, which stole the name from a magazine (if I recall Dain's story about it all).

Eh, I don't think we have to completely abandon everything to do with the old forum. There might be value in having a bit of a connection. And as I said, NA doesn't have a monopoly on it.

But if age is out and we want a clean break, I like Lincoln's suggestion, Collectroid.
