That is what I am thinking as well. To fit in/perfect the motherboard and to make sure the audio is good. Very excited and glad some retro reviews decided to report on this

Yes, they keep saying "under $100", which leads me to believe it will probably be $99.99. It runs it's own software, comes with controllers, and supports multiple systems, so I'm guessing that $99.99 will be the price point, I don't see it selling for any less than $89.99 at the very lowest price.

Just thought of something. Save slots means you can save your high scores on arcade ports! Now you can have a house high score. That's pretty rad.

Two more videos of the RetroN 5 at the E3 convention, one of which is playing Mario Kart and the other is playing Super Mario All-Stars. Very cool!

Hyperkin has mentioned many times on their FB page that the release date is in summer 2013. Probably in a month or two.

No carts in the system, is this one of those demos like xbone where the emulator is actually running on a high end pc?

Haven't seen anything about the controllers yet, guess they weren't at the expo?

Hmm, I was looking forward more to the new Retro Duo but besides some preview shots, they haven't said ANYTHING afaik. The Retron 5 is tempting. I've got so many consoles now that I just don't have enough places to have them all hooked up so I've gotten more interested in streamlining my setup over the last few months (by buying MORE consoles it seems har har)

Is that the reton5 running Mario Kart 64 on the second video or is something else?

Or is it the HD TV making the graphics look different than Mario Kart SNES?

I interviewed these guys at Too Many Games. Sounds like sometime 2014. I think they said summer, but nothin is set in stone.

Lets see. The had a workig one at Philly. They showed me the proto, but understandable didn't want me to take footage of it. So it work, no roms. They were playing SMW on it.

-------------------------

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at the Let's Play Gaming Expo last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Oh, my WTB thread is very popular. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, Richard craniums - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous thread.
I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* price guide for aftermarket Nintendo games.
Between Dragon Warriors and nothing... I'll take Dragon Warriors - for any of my FT/FS/FO items.

I wonder if they are going to opensource the O.S. for it..
Something like the ability to store and apply translation patches or other hacks for games would be frickin awesome.

They stated in a reply on Facebook for sure Summer 2013. BUT if there is a complication, I think we all agree that they should make sure it is perfect!

User1: When is this gem dropping hopefully around Christmas right?

Now that we know it runs on Android I don't see the appeal people have, especially price wise. For $20 you could pick up an old Xbox and mod it to run emulators, use a VGA or component cord to your HDTV. It would have all the same emulated systems plus many more. You could even paint it to look a little more modern too.

Agreed on waiting. I think that if this is done right, they may not need to make another one. The USB is goin to allow for firmware updates. It's got practically every Game Genie code programmed into it. You can save on it. You do screenshots. It's HDMI capable, with the ability to change scanlines and refresh rates. This thing looked tits to me.

Some prefer to physically put games in a console. Like myself, which is why Microsoft lost me at E3. But that's another story alltogether.

Has anyone heard more about the compatibility rate for this thing? I know that they were shooting for 100%, but I still haven't seen any vid of it playing a game that uses the FX or FX2.

100% compatibility with NES and famicom would be a seriously impressive feat. I highly doubt they will be anywhere near.
