If you missed his first time around, I got a free tv and it was too big so my girl said I can’t have it.
so..  ive been in search of an original Pac-Man or Mrs. P or DK Nintendo cab. Also had my eye on Nintendo Popeye cocktail machine. My lady loves Pac-Man and old classic games, so story is it’s for her....also she’s very supportive of my arcade building hobby. any way, I found a Sega cyber police ESWAT cab and the lady had no price. I started at 250 and she made the no no of throwing out two figures of whiched I picked the lower of coarse. 300$ was the agreed upon amount. So I told my lady... let’s just just throw it out there. Her names Gail. I told Gail that I finally found a dedicated cab as my first full intro to jamma project. Usually deal with PI builds. I explained it’s bigger than the tv but it’s a great deal and I gotta do it. For some reason she said sure, which was good cuz I’d already gone and looked at it and haggled for it!!!
so here it is. It’s a non jamma board and part of the Sega 16 conversion series. So it has the same pin out for a few titles like golden axe, altered beast, cotton, Shinobi and other awesome titles. I still want a vs cab but this is a good start. And Gail is fucking rad for letting me do this. Thanks for checking back!
PS if I did this wrong I’m sorry just figured it’s better than a new thread.

I scored a free one of these too, but it was too big and heavy and I threw it out.

I read the specs. Does it really weight 220lbs??? Or feel like it anyway?

My KV–32XBR250 is listed at 175 pounds and feels every pound of it. So Yeah, I believe it. Someone on here pointed out that the WEGA's, with their flat-front screens, weigh more than non-WEGA's.

I have a 2004 23" Trinitron. Honestly, it was better than I expected. When I lugged it into the basement and plugged it in, the closest thing I had near by was a TG-16 with it's coax hook-ups. Even with that setup I was surprised with the quality. I still have composite cables hooked up to it but hope to eventually upgrade to components where possible.

I got one of these a few years ago for free as well.  It's an awesome TV, but I did not find it to be the ultimate retro gaming TV.  I found the TV was not ideal for systems prior to gen 6 systems.  The TV didn't work with most light guns.  The TV worked best with non-HDMI consoles that offered wide screen such as PS2, Xbox and GameCube.  I ended up giving the TV away to someone locally and kept my original non-wide screen Sony CRT.  In a perfect world, I would have kept the TV and used a 3 TV setup, but I don't have the room for that.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

I have a 34" widescreen Sony KV-34HS420. Composite, S-video, component, RF, DVI, etc. Compatible with just about every connection you could want except 4K. Yes it does officially weigh 197 lbs. And it looks great. Excellent contrast and colors.

It doesn't fit my mode like I thought it would though. I did not get it free but I'm willing to let it go for free to a good home. If you have one good friend and a refrigerator dolly it's not too hard to move. Pickup in Chicago, I can be the good friend on my end and possibly yours depending on location.

These are not very good for pre 6th gen consoles, as they handle and upscale 240p/480i very poorly, and with added lag. The whole "HD CRT holy grail" myth is weird, as they only make stuff like GameCube/PS2/Xbox/Wii look decent. You're much better off with a non-HD CRT or PVM for most older systems, and using modern TVs for the newer ones.

I'd absolutely recommend watching My Life in Gaming's video on CRT gaming before deciding on an option.

As others have mentioned not great for retro.

The KV-36FV310 is what alot of enthusiasts consider
to be Sonys best consumer grade SD CRT.

Cool find. Pretty uncommon. A crt collector would be thrilled.

But SD>HD for retro consoles.

It's crazy to see a crt with HDMI on it to me as I have never seen one in person. Man, I wonder how nice it would look if it was RGB modded...

The wide screen isn't the way to go. You want a letter box. I have a 32" Toshiba flat screen that does 480i and it's great. I passed on the exact model in the OP and I'm glad I did. The Flat screen LCD Wega that came out after this has no HDMI and actually handles pre PS2 era consoles better than the tv in the OP

😣me... I do.....I know it’s ridiculous, and I have gotten rid of a bunch, but I had a thing for smaller crts and vcrs a few years back and accumulated a small collection. I’ll be getting rid of all but three including this one now. The 19” in my bedroom and zenith space command in the NINTV stay too.

Well..... after the reviews here I became skeptical, and had a conversation with my lady about it.(mistake) When she read the specs on size and weight, I was told I can't have it, lol. I don't play much past snes. Except Saturn and xbone so maybe not the best for me anyway. I sure was excited to have an hdmi crt tv tho...😕

Lol. Well I had a friend that was supposed to grab it with me and he bailed so I asked Gail if she’d help and she made me pull up the specs. And said NNNNNOPE! So I would have shown up with this thing and immediately had to take it to the dump which costs money, so it’s better than the dog house I guess.. still a little bummed.

I feel you man, sorry it didn't work out. I got a 24 inch tv instead which the wife was ok with. Maybe try to find one that size. You can lift it yourself no problem.

😣me... I do....

I went to a guys house two weeks ago because he was advertising crt’s. The ad read “time to let go some of my collection”.

This dude had crts EVERYWHERE. I’m not joking he ha a collection in every way. I bet this dude had 50+ crts scattered though out his house.

That’s a lot. I have like 5 left and it still looks like borderline hoarding... if I was single I wouldn’t care. VCRs...I used to “have” to grab em when I saw em. Happy to say I’m down to two and one tv/vcr combo.
