Nesguy's comments were obviously directed towards the 0 feedback new user, hence the quotes of "criminal" and "gouging". No need to be offended.
Correct.
I really don't understand why people get upset at what others are charging for things. Nobody has a gun to your head saying "Spend yo money here!". Pretty much everything can be had for cheaper if you're patient. Do these kind of attitudes stem from the "I want it now" and "I want a deal" mentalities spawning a nasty, grumpy baby that feels
entitled to the best prices whenever it wants?
Yes. Finally someone says it. Some people have this weird sense of entitlement over collectibles. I will never understand it.
Meh, I think that Nesguy is the polar opposite as well. Just because you tell someone they are overpriced doesn't mean that you are a grumpy, whiny baby. It just means that you know what a particular item will hit at auction, and what the general collector is willing to pay. If you're the type that is going to be offended by the public perception of your sale prices, then perhaps you need thicker skin.
And back on topic, here's another $65 CIB for MM2. Apparently the "Near Mint" title does wonders.
http://cgi.ebay.com/MEGA-MAN-2-NES-NINTENDO-COMPLETE-NE...It's not a Xmas spike either, this one has been hitting $50-$60 in Excellent shape for a few months now at least.
I'm always, always amazed at how well you track items and how (mostly) spot-on you are with pricing.
Back on-topic, this is the beauty of capitalism. List your items for whatever you want. His reputation, feedback, and longevity are certainly reason for him to charge a premium for his items.
And if this is, in fact, what he does for a living (which someone has said), then he's obviously been doing it long enough to know what he can get for certain items.
I was just talking to someone about this the other day....sometimes I need to forget the fact that I'm a collector and I have to get the "collector pricing" mentality out of my head. I also need to remember the fact that not everyone out there is a collector.
I think we all should consider those two nuggets of information before we attack someone else's pricing structure. I am now recalling my recent trip to a local game shop where a guy was insanely excited to grab Madden 97 for SNES for "only" $6 (I think, could have been $5, 6, or 7). And the trip to PnT where a guy grabbed double-"market" price Contra, Super Mario 3, and a couple other games.
People will pay. If you're a high-feedback seller (top-rated and powersellers) with a good reputation, clear descriptions, good photos, nice listings, you can get your money. If I weren't so damn impatient, I'd follow my own advice
