Made it all the way to the Ghost Ship on one life, playing pretty conservatively. Then I got lazy on the first somewhat difficult jump I had to make, and fell to my death. Whatta way to go. That's what I get for taking the easy route with a dearth of tricky platforming. Still, I'm satisfied with my first attempt.

sweet. I've actually never played the third one. I'll have to emulate, but I'm up for giving it a shot.

Damn, you went up to the Clocktower? What a brave man! So many opportunities for falling deaths.

Yeah but the point values are nice in there so I do wonder if the costs outweigh the benefit. If I do this I'll probably try both ways but I'm better going after Sypha and rolling around that way in those areas may work nicer.

Yeah, I mean if you feel confident that you can avoid cheap deaths, then go for it! I just knew from having played through the game with that route (to enlist the awesome Grant) that I suffered many, many deaths by falling. How much better are the point values in the Clocktower?

I should add that my score was achieved on my one and only attempt. I probably won't be able to top that next time. I'll overthink and die all the time as a result. I was in the zone last night; played the best Castlevania of my life!

Well it has been awhile but I do recall I think there were medusa heads and they keep coming so you can rack up points at a faster clip as you work your way up and back down. I don't mean stand there and roll the board, just more volume.

Ugh, so many good choices this year. If I were playing this I'd most likely play a Trevor only game, and totally get whooped, because while I'm decent and can beat the game easy enough, not without losing a lot of lives though, unlike the first Castlevania.

Oh yeah, duh. I abused this somewhat with respawning zombies, but they may not be worth as many points as medusa heads.

I haven't played this in forever, but I'll give it a shot. I spent quite a bit of time this weekend on Castlevania 1 so, maybe that will help me out a little.

EDIT

Okay I tried the clock tower twice. I made it up once, but couldn't make it down. Those Medusa heads are only worth a lousy 50 points. I think the time you would waste farming them is worth more.

My third try I went to the swamps and had better luck. Those nasty toads are worth 200 points each. I fought on through to the boss. The giant bat that turns into little bats, but my health wasn't full when I got there, so killed me with only 1 hit point left. So here is my best effort so far.

I love this game, but I actually broke a controller playing it as a kid. Parts of it can be extremely frustrating for me. It's been a while, though, so I'm looking forward to picking it back up.

I really should give it a roll, used to be pretty decent at it. I know if I can hold up reasonably I can take a life clear through getting sypha (not doing clocktower) and into the ghost ship at least.

Don't copy me! Haha!

Looks like my zombie farming was worth it, as I'm only ahead by about 700 points. That's probably about how much I netted doing it.

FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

Well, I'll go ahead and post my new score anyway:

Here I was, proud that I edged out the last high score, but you've got more than double what I have. I did pretty much the same thing as last time, but didn't die on the first hard jump in the ghost ship. When I ran into the Medusa miniboss, had no idea how to fight her, so I lost a lot of health. I managed to make it to the end boss regardless, but decided 2 bars of health wasn't gonna be enough to finish them. I farmed crows instead until they killed me.

Well done, Bimmy. I'd reaaaaaally have to step up my game to top that.

This was the best I could do today. I know I can do better, I keep dying in the stupidest ways.

Update. Little better, think I'm done. Maybe 1 more. Maybe
