"Retro update
Just some more information about the RetroN 5 that we know so far, thanks to David Yu from Hyperkin and also a lot of Q and A sessions on thier social media pages.
The RetroN 5 will use its own system software called Perdana, which will help the console load and save states and some other features. The console will not be using an ARM chip as some people have suggested in the past. The RetroN 5 also has a graphical filter system that can improve and alter the way the game looks like e.g. scan lines smoothing, etc.
The RetroN 5 will be compatible with Codemasters’ J-Carts so any fans of Micro Machines or any Codemasters sports games for the Sega Mega Drive will be happy.
The RetroN 5 will also give users the option on whether they want their games to be displayed in 4:3 or 16:9 configuration, from what I have been told you can set them all independently if you want a Game Boy Advance game to display in 16:9 or a Sega Mega Drive game to be in 4:3 it is possible.
There have been a lot of suggestions and questions being asked about the machine, but any new information won’t be announced until E3, where they will have a booth there with a demonstrator apparently. Enclosed is a link to show the different filter shaders for the RetroN 5.
I hope that the GC team can look at Hyperkin’s work at E3 as I hope it will shape up better to what we’ve had in the past.
