Hey, guys. My wife recently inherited a 3DS from a friend who had upgraded to the new model. This 3DS has an issue where the top screen darkens unless it's tilted at a specific angle (and that doesn't always work either).

I had an old Dell laptop with a similar issue years ago, and I suspect the ribbon cable in the hinge is being pinched or is not seated correctly. Possibly the system needs a new screen entirely. I'd like to open it up and check this out - and I have found some good video tutorials - but when I went to disassemble the system, I found my second problem: three stripped screws on the inner shell.

These are the very small screws that are recessed by about 2mm. I have tried a couple of common stripped screw fixes, such as using super glue or rubber bands, without success.

Have any of you experienced either of these problems, and if so, how did you fix them?

I would just drill the top of the screws off, then when case is removed should be able to just unscrew remaining part with some needle nose or tweezers

Any recommendations on how to do this without destroying the system? I thought I might have to resort to drilling but any feedback on that particular part of the job would be greatly appreciated.
