I wanted to update everyone that I've purchased the new servers today. The timing couldn't be better as we had 3 outages last night. To mitigate the pain until the new servers are ready, I've had to disable a few features that are crippling us. Specifically, the external game database and image uploads. I hate to do this, but we have to reduce load temporarily and those two areas are heavy hitters.

We had a full diagnostics performed today during the downtime and no hardware issues were found (thankfully). We'll be trying to get the new servers online as quickly as possible, but it will still probably take a few weeks. Thanks for the patience.

Heh, I can definitely tell the site is a lot faster at the moment. But no worries about the downtime; I say take your time.

Site might be a bit slow tonight (as if it weren't already slow). I'm FTP'ing about 200,000 files over to the new server.

Congrats on the new baby Dain! Thanks for the update, it's exciting to hear that the site keeps on expanding. Even when the site is on the sluggish side, it's miles ahead of any of the other forums I frequent in any capacity. Three words: Ease of use.

Keep up the great work. Can't wait till it is done.

Don't worry about the outages. We may go through withdrawals while it is down, but it is for our own good in the long run.

Im happy you were able to find a good solution. As for down time its expect during these changes but contrats on everything and thanks for your hard work. We realize your got alot on your plate.

Glad that our $$ is going to good use. You're on the ball...and pretty busy, I'd imagine. Don't forget the occasional pit stop for some much needed "me time".

Quick update. I'm 90% done transferring files, so that leaves the databases next. I'll be taking the site offline either tonight or in the morning to back them up, transfer then and bring them back online.

I've got both of the servers up and running at this point, so we're actually getting pretty close (assuming wife doesn't go into labor today

I never really noticed that the site would run slow...usually only problem I ever saw was not loading. Either way...good things come to those who wait. When you get them upgraded, you get them upgraded...and when your wife "downloads" the newest member of NA...we will be happy to wait...
