Someone catch two ways to infinitely rack points so I'm going to change the rules in accordance. It shouldn't change anything to the scores already posted, but if you were using these two ways to rack points, please let me know.

1: You can reset a boss fight by going into the special ships selection screen. You can't use this to beat a boss over and over again. If you beat a boss and accidentally reset the fight, your run is over.

2: There's a way to rack points infinitely at the last boss fight, so we're going to call it a day once a player reach the final boss. Your run ends once you reach the final boss, don't fight it before taking your picture.

So me, skinnygrinny, and bertsampson have to submit new scores then because we all beat the final boss? I just want to make sure since I honestly hadn't planned on playing again this week.
If you don't mind, yes, that would be the best.

I love a good shooter, so I thought I'd play along.

Welcome back man

Make sure to read the full set of rules, there are a few things forbidden in this contest in order to minimize points racking.

I'll remove the score for now since I did attempt the boss a couple times.  I didn't grind it though, I actually tried to beat it a couple times and failed.

With the new rules, is a player still allowed to strategically suicide at any point to get the most out of the extra ships?

As long as there's no way to get infinite extra lives, strategical suicide is okay.

Anyone can confirm if you can get infinite extra lives somehow?

It's not exactly a confirmation, but the only way I noticed to get extra lives was every 100,000 points.

I never saw any extra lives either except at every 100,000 points.

I didn't even know that you could get extra lives although I likely didn't break the 100k mark until after the final boss battle.

Alright, so we'll say that spoiling lives strategically is legit

Nice score skinny. I'll cheers with a glass of Nog Dew! We make it about 90% Nog, and 10% Dew, so you might not like it...

Yeah, I'm done...for the day...

It probably will be rather shocking to see you pouring Dew into a glass of Nog!

Since a couple years now I'm drinking my Holidays Egg Nog with some Punch Abruzzo : http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo/product/...

This is really a neat combination.

Looks good!  I usually stick with good ol' spiced rum from the captain!

By all means, if you like it with Captain Morgan's spiced rum, than you'll like it with some Punch Abruzzo. It is an alcoholic syrup with a strong mix of holidays spices (cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, etc.). I used to make myself some homemade Egg Nog with rum and brandy, and now I just buy some non-alcoholic Egg Nog at the market and pour that thing in it and I'm fully satisfied. I rarely goes from homemade to premade if this says anything, hehe.

I played for a little bit last night and I'm not very good right now. I'll leave the big boys alone!

I posted a new score to fit the updated rules.

Does anyone else feel like they prefer the shooters like this that have both air and ground targets requiring a different attack?  I think it makes things a bit more stimulating.

Yeah, I like the ground and air enemies.  Too many power-downs though.  Kinda rediculous.

The power downs are a killer. It's kinda cool though. Makes another obstacle. I think stinger is my favorite shooter, it mixes up vertical and side scrolling. I really like sqoon too.

Wow!  Really!  Stinger...

I did like Sqoon.  Could have used more power ups, but the upgrading and fuel mechanic is different.  Cool shooter.
