You mean, once you beat the game and all goombas are changed into buzzy beatles?

If so, then the answer is no

@ Crabmaster2000 - I personally don't have a problem with submit a caputred video instead of a picture as long as the entire TV screen or computer monitor is visible as well as your user name.

@Philbracy - You can re-submit your score as many times as you would like before the end of the week. The only stipulation is that you re-use your orginal score submission post to submit new scores. It's easier for me to tally up everyone's score at the end of the week if they only have one post with a score instead of like five or more.

I meant captured right onto the computer so you wouldnt see any tv monitors or have my username visible. I could upload the video to my youtube channel which is run under my username though, would that be ok?

Would you be able to take a picture of your computer monitor with the video uploaded to youtube with your username in the picture?

That might work. Thanks!

Great (and appropriate) choice for the first contest of the year. I love this game and consider it the best 2-D Mario game. I have never played focused on points before so this is a fun twist, the 50 points/second bonus really turns the whole game into a crazy optimization battle.

I hope I can top this score but I start to get really nervous once I get to World 5, especially levels with edges where I have to take my time.

EDIT for new score.

This is probably one of my favorite games of all time. With out a doubt had more of an impact on me then any other. A played this game a bunch when I was a kid. Also, the Super Mario DX GBC game happened to be the first handheld game I ever purchased. That game was great for highscores, since it had a highscore challenge. It added things like yoshi eggs and red coins, but its all good, it was fun. Shortly after I bought that GBC game in around 2001ish I begain working on speed runs. I was never as good as people on youtube or anything, but I did manage to get under six mintues on a few runs, from start to finish. So I got this score earlier in the week, trying a high score no death run was not something I had ever tried so it was really refreshing. I'm not sure if my score will hold up, but either way it was alot of fun.

This sounds like a really fun challenge.  Never tried to do the turtle-hop trick for points before.  Decent effort here, though hundreds of thousands more are possible.

Just about beat the game.  Oh well.

Nice score Mr. Votava!

Also, What did your DK score end up to after the kill screen? I sadly missed the New Years eve attempt while I was working on a house project.

Thanks. The DK kill screen was just shy of 2.9 million. I've had higher scores before, but this time I was avoiding hammers in favor of speed.

Wow, the new post layout is actually managing to annoy me because I can't find the image link option. Going to try and insert this manually.

Not great, but I tried....

P.S., yes the new reply format is nice, but inserting picture was confusing...

I will see if I can get it fixed. For now, copy and paste image to get it into the reply...

Um. Guys, do you know who Tom Votava is? Tom have you introduced yourself yet? Welcome! Lets just say I'm glad I didn't spend hours practicing now.

I havent been following that close, but I believe Tom is the best NES player in the world today. Probably better at this point then even Thor and I when we were in our prime to be quite honest. (Although he has yet to play the ultimate challenge in Tetris ;p )

Click his link to get a glimpse.

Makes sense for sure.  I've always felt that grabbing the hammers increased your odds of death on the barrel board, because DK just starts spewing more barrels.

To answer Robin, yes, I've been hoping Tom would join for quite a while.  Dain and a few others around here, including me are big fans.  I've PMd him asking for advice on an occasion or two over at Twin Galaxies.

I was able to utilize the turtle trick on multiple levels. 3-1, 4-2, 6-2, 7-1 and 8-2. After this run, I felt like 2 million was very possible but I couldn't quite get there.

Just sign up for a free sight like ImageShack, upload your pictures, then it will provide a link.

I've never had much luck with the code here at NA for imbedding images. It always took forever, and why waste our server space with pictures.

Updated my score, though I doubt it will count since my name obscures the stage and time counter. I mean, it will be hard to figure out what stage I was on.
