True, although the fireballs are somewhat of a hurry up mechanism. Either way I don't think anyone will want to point rack, especially the way I found as it takes forever and pretty much takes all the fun out of this great game.

And with all this wrestling banter and pictures going around,I am surprised there hasn't been a wrestling game added to the contest list.

yeah I tried slow playing it a couple times just to see if my score went up but all Ive found is the longer I am in a level the more likely it is Ill lose a life. Since the stages are unlimitted ( goes to 99, then to 0 and then back to 1) I just try to get through each stage as fast as I can.

I think I know what you are talking about gutsman and that would definitely take a long time and effort and more than likely end in death. I honestly think that just progressing through the levels adds to the score a lot quicker once you get down the routine of the enemies

I actually messed that picture up. I was going to put Krunch's name in there for you, but I accidentally wrote Shane in his place out of habit. It still works though.

I searched for an earlier play and it looks like the last time was when you participated in it, back in '08. Maybe some of the guys who have been playing in the contests longer can correct me, but this is all I could find after multiple forum searches.

Rest assured that the scores are going to get much higher this time, though!

Basically what you do is get to phase 9 and beyond to where the iceberg things start appearing. Then you kill off every enemy but one and camp out at the bottom edge of either screen or in between both left and right edges and basically wait for the icebergs to come down to the 3rd platforms and hit them before they ice a platform. And since the fireball that appears and chases you doesn't completely go the full length of the playfield, you can camp out at the screen edges on the bottom and pick off the icebergs for 500 point each. In those spots pretty much nothing can touch you. Even that fireball that appears at the top rarely comes down to the bottom and if it does, you can easily avoid it. But man is it tedious and boring.

I noticed that the other day and I was wondering if it was what you were referring to. I don't think it would really be worth the trouble. This is a fun game, but it can get a bit repetitive as is if you play it long enough, so I can't imagine someone wanting to farm icebergs for hours.

Exactly. I did it for a little while as an experiment. Didn't do it for that long though as it's completely unfun.

Got a chance to play a little bit today.

Getting the hang of it pretty quickly.. I remember actually renting this game numerous times when there weren't a lot of titles to choose from. (and the slaying rink had it in cabinet)

To answer a few questions, point racking will be forbidden. Any scores prior to this post that used point racking will not be deemed invalid since I just made the rule change. Also, if you roll the score, three pictures will be required: 1 before the score roll, 1 after the score roll, and 1 of your final score. You will have to do this for each roll of the score, if applicable.

-------------------------

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

"Wait...Bimmy and Jimmy??  How'd they make a mistake like this!?  Bimmy isn't even a real name!"

Beware the Bimmy Marsh!

I have this cart in my collection, but I've been house sitting for a few weeks at my parents' place which has no CRTs, so emulating the game on my Ouya was the sensible solution.

Updated my score. I was shooting for at least 400k,but I royally screwed up phase 36 and lost my 2 remaining men.to poorly timed jumps. Great scores so far everyone!

Since Tom's TG record is almost 11 million points, I'd better get my final score in before he posts and crashes the site!
