There's really nothing special about that cardboard model... you could easily recreate it. I wouldn't ever try to buy that sort of thing simply because of that.

That could be the most important piece in video game history.

I'm not really sure what they were expecting. Even when you're as big as Nintendo the idea is to save money, so why would you create loads of different design prototypes using stuff like 3D printers etc? Maybe people expect them to have magical techno-boxes that create designs for them and dispense them on to a plate in a second? I dunno.

I was going to post AlphaOmegaSin's video.
I'm still laughing my ass off because the Internet is an asshole.

I love it.

Oh hey, it's that way metal dude who posted a video threatening to physically hurt me for listing my Final Fantasy 2 proto on eBay, then deleted the comment I made politely correcting his mistakes. That guy is the best and his videos are well-informed and entertaining and his long gorgeous locks definitely don't make me want to projectile vomit all over him.

Watching his FF2 video now. He's a moron, he's probably one of those "entitleds" at gamesniped on top of that. I wouldn't care what he says, anybody with a brain in this community will see how stupid he is. He's trying to relate it to released titles. And then he starts saying how his game room is worth $50,000? He apparently doesn't understand the point of the fact that everyone has all the games he has, and that's the point. And he keeps saying how he hates assholes overcharging? Well why doesn't he sell a FF2 proto for $5 then?

Biggest youtube frackktard, by far. I'd love for him to show up here.

BUt anyway, yeah...The more I think about the WiiU cardboard proto...the more I think it should stay in the company and go in the museum! I mean...Miyamoto touched it probably!

Why blast the article? I thought it was an interesting read as I never would've assumed Nintendo would have made cardboard protos lmao

I don't know anything about the person who wrote this or the hate around that person, so I'm not going to comment on that.

As someone who has worked on robotics teams the last 7 years and am currently working in a NASA team, I find that there is a fantastic lesson to be learned from this article: you don't need sophisticated tools to be innovative. While giving tours and presenting to the public, I try to show the unsophisticated side as much as I do the sophisticated side. Frankly, I wouldn't be motivated myself if I needed to have millions of dollars in tools, equipment, and materials in order to be innovative.

I don't see the problem with the articles talking about the Nintendo development process. Nor do I have a quarrel with Nintendo, since prototyping in cardboard is quick and cheap, and suited their needs. I've seen that YouTube guy before, he's just too over the top. Honestly, any moron willing to bid on that fake crap on ebay are simply morons.

Guys, I wrote that article. I'm the news guy at Gamasutra. When I made fun of it I was being sardonic.
