Inserting NES games In then down, or in and down?

I recently watched the commercial for Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

In the commercial, he inserts the game by pushing the cart simultaneously in and down, all in one motion. I have never seen anyone do this or even considered it. I always pushed the cart in fully, then straight down.

Is there anyone out there who uses this all-in-one method?

Just watched the commercial in the link and I smiled when I saw the all in one motion because I have never seen anyone do that before. I wonder how many takes they had to do of that until they finally got that one ultra smooth motion. I'm going to try that next time I fire up my NES.

I'm a 2 stroke guy with a moderate amount of force. My NES likes it rough.

Haha damn that's how I've always done it. Otherwise it never works for me (old 72 pin I know).
It seems forceful or bad for the system but the toaster can handle it.

Never thought about it....after trying a few times, I seem to do it one one smooth motion. Although, if it don't work the first time, then I am more slow with it.

And damn, he got that dead center. It's pretty hard to slide it in all the way with out hitting the edges.

mind boggling. also, i don't think the hand pushing it in is tyson's. it looks white... and then it cuts to a black finger powering on the nes.

I say replace the 72 pin and never push down to conserve the strength of the pins

Dude! Tyson is a bad ass inserter. That is the smoothest/fastest insertion I have ever saw. Much respect for that kind of insertion. I've always prided myself on being a top-notch inserter, but that takes the cake. Big Mike has left me questioning my inferior insertion skills...

I think I do it all in one smooth motion as well. I'm assuming most people do it that way if they have plenty of experience with the system?

When the games were stubborn and blowing didn't work, I used to put them in and then "mash" them down with extreme force and bang the cart on the plastic piece of the toaster. Of course, I was just a kid then and I would do whatever it took to make a damn game work. Way before 72 pin replacements were around!

It looks like it glides in on it's own, but after Tyson pushed it down it appears to have hit the label, not my favorite kind of way but still impressive.

... huh. Yeah, I'm definitely a two-stage guy -- like a rocket shuttle. I'm not sure if that makes any sense. Notice how Tyson didn't exactly get consent first before insertion. Just sayin'.

I don't even bother pushing it down anymore, with the pins I use, I just keep it up and it works fine.

In my toaster I dont even push the game down. I just insert the game and power it up. works perfect.

But why use that if you can use an AV modded Toploader???  I love mine.
