Thats pretty commendable score playing for the first time in 20 years.

This game is a beotch to figure out, but once you have it figured, it's cake. I even think the first few levels are the toughest to figure out.

My score wasn't very high at first when I gave it a try either, I'm sure if you've known the game somewhat in the past, with some more attempts you should be able to achieve much higher scores. Of coarse for me it had only been a couple years since I had last played, but then also while I was this time I had to get used to using a different controller than the NES, also playing with a moderately high fever and burning eyeballs. Thankfully I'm feeling quite a bit better, but still, score does go a bit too high in this game, even if I wanted 1st place victory for the contest on this one, because I could most likely do it, I still don't think its worth that much effort, would be at it for hours straight, not looking to kill myself over it.

I used to think this game was much harder than the first Contra, its not as hard as it used to be for me, how I don't know, but it took me forever to beat this game for my very first time some years ago, my brother had actually beat it before me, then somehow right after watching him do it, then I finally played it well enough to beat it, which was odd for me, and then now for the contest after a few practice runs beating it was kind of effortless. Still like the first Contra better, the 3D stages more interesting than the overhead ones, also some of the traps and other interactive stuff in that one gave the game more varied challenges.

Wow at first it sounds like playing though it a few times is not that bad, but it seems to take a lot longer then you'd expect. The score also seems to go no where fast. One million takes forever.

Updated my score a bit. I managed to break the 100,000 point mark barely, and made it to the beginning of stage 5.
I had never made this far on this game before.
And let me state that the genesis like gamepads this clone I have uses are awful.
I need to get a top loader soon to be able to use superior NES pads once more.

Not as amazing as Miss Clawful... but that's okay, I've still never beat this game. I have made it to the final boss though.

I'm sadistic so i've decided to give it a run again tonight, been sneaking a post here and there when the credits roll so see what scores have been posted.

Not sure how far i'll take it, but just past where I was at last night before killing myself.

I'm better than I ever wanted to be at this game right now, so sick of it!

Man, how did I miss this one? I can no death run this game. And I even did it after a loop, died level 4 the 3rd time. If I would have played all week, I could have given ya'll a run for your money...

I did this one earlier in the week.  Looped it 7 times and got halfway through my 8th loop before I just gave up because my arm was getting really sore.  I tried to give this another try today to see if I could top this, but I lost power for a while because of a wind storm.  It came back on a short while ago, so I won't have time to give this another serious run.

My NES collection count: 757 games (16 to go for a full set)

Latest Purchase(s): Snow Brothers

Yeah, I am only going for the participation point this week.
It would get a few days for me to get the proper hang of this so I could loop it like you guys do.
Sadly, free time during the week is pretty much non-existent right now.
Good job so far. I wonder what Guy score will be like.

This took almost 10hrs. I was on my 19th time through. I wanted 20, but I just couldn't take any more once I broke 4 million.

Unfortunately, I don't have that much time on Sunday...

Looks like the Mog just passed a very smooth Sunday playing NES

I wish I would have just left the power on last night I was sitting at 1,784,000

would that have counted?

I just started a new game today.

Yeah, that would have been fine.  I almost contemplated doing this for my score, but I didn't leave my NES on for 12 straight hours.

Hehe

I've not made this on purpose, I went to post my score and saw that I was just topping you. A few minutes less and you were topping me.
