Have you tried playing it? I'm guessing it's a sample copy of Zen: Intergalactic Ninja that was sent to magazines to review the game, or something along those lines.

That's the typical label you'd find on a Konami prototype, so I have no doubt that it's legit. Can't recall seeing a Zen prototype offhand, so you got yourself a NICE find right there.

You mention that it came out of your basement. Have you had it long? Do you recall where it came from?

To get a good price on it you would really need to provide pictures of it opened up.

Can't say that I totally agree.  This thing will sell for good money on eBay with that single photo IMO.

Most likely it will, but I imagine people would be a bit more confident in their bids with board pictures included. Not to mention the horde of messages he will get asking for pictures of the board.

Gotta love stories like this. Just getting some random games outta a basement without ever realizing what they are and pop comes a prototype.
Label is definitely legit as it is the same font as some of my Konami prototypes. Very nice piece.

The word "unreleased" in your auction title is incredibly misleading.

Oh, yeah, I'll explain: "unreleased" means that it's a game that was never sold in stores. Zen was sold in stores, this is just a version that was made before it was all the way done.

I agree, shipping cost for a loose NES game from US to Europe costs 25 bucks through that (plus possible import taxes) - I bet there's a cheaper solution to ship just one loose NES game...

Global shipping is the only thing that protects the seller though.

I understand the buyers are outraged, but you do understand that as a seller I had a bunch of people file claims because PayPal/eBay didn't protect from those issues. Now they do.

It means no going to the post office, no filling out forms, no praying that someone will get their package.

I don't mind shipping internationally, but too many times people just were not trustworthy if the package arrived filing claims in the process.

Exactly.

I can limit the buyers a hair by offering shipping through the global shipping program at a highre price, or I can be ripped off for thousands of dollars.

No brainer.  It's the only way I'll ship on Ebay internationally.

It is not like it is a regular item such as one game. For prototypes, shipping cost shouldn't really matter as you are already willing to pay a lot of money for the item itself and should be expected to pay for it. Global shipping would only be despised, or not worth it if it was for an item such as a single game, or pretty much everything else that is common-wise (or cheaper in the states).
Although, I do hate how they manage with repackaging the items and really do frown upon using it for anything that is sealed.
