Anyone else come across this yet?  I just got in a 2nd CIB Game Action Replay and it is different from the one I already had.  Boxes and instructions are the same.  The plastic casings are exactly the same but the boards are different colors and the battery placement is different with one mounting on the front and one mounting on the back.

That's pretty cool, wouldn't have thought that something this rare had a revision. I don't know if I'd consider it an actual variant, though...if we consider different insides of games and accessories as variants, then it's opening a whole can of worms.

I agree Pieter... in fact if that PCB was just a different color I probably wouldn't have even posted it, however the actully battery mounting on the front of one and the back of the other was what I thought was cool. My guess people broke them or had a hard time getting to the front to get the battery changed so they switched it so you could just unscrew the back and change the battery.

Nothing new. I've seen both come through my hands. I've been fixing these units for some customers (replacing the battery, and reloading the memory chip). They're pretty much the same system with no difference.

Its a save state accessory, you can basically get to the point in any game and then hit a button confirgurariton like down and A at the same time and it will save your state. then hit like up and B at the same time it will load it exactly where you saved. Comes in handy on those nearly impossible to beat nes games. I used it on battletoads and ALMOST beat it LOL, still couldnt get through the freakin wheel bar things lol. But yea theya re sweet and work kinda like a game genie, game goes in the top and put it in your NES. will only work on the toaster NES i believe cause you actually have to remove the metal bar in your NES to get it to fit. Very cool.
