Not saying it isn't legit, haven't seen enough of them in person to be a good judge, but the runs in that label would absolutely stop me from buying that copy. Looks like it has more stretch marks than a petite woman carrying triplets.

Yeah it ended a few hours ago but curious if it's a legit copy in the general. I've seen old discussions about these carts here, seems like there's some very knowledgeable people in this forums.

Please remove the link to the auction. Legit or not, please do not post ended auctions until 2 weeks pass.

Heard lits of discussions in other groups. People wete discussing the wavy label and possible other shady listings. But who knows these days.

the wavy label was the first thing I noticed. I wouldn't trust it personally

Just curious, is there a reason for that?
 

Someone may try to "backdoor" by offering a higher amount than what the item went for. 2 weeks (my guess) should be time enough for the item to be delivered.

Off topic reply.  Why is that a rule?  Not being an ass, I'm genuinely curious.  

 

That copy is legit, I know the guy who sold it last year (I'm assuming to that guy who is now selling it). Looks like the guy tried to remove and replace the label though, as it had some minor issues before but is f****ed now haha.

I just asked the same question, look one post up.  
 

While we're on the subject, this reminds me of something I've seen recently from Philip DeFranco's Youtube show that I wanted to share.

I watch this guy and I've noticed that too since he moved to his new studio, I found it interesting.  Who knows whats the story but if anything he's exposing the existance of the test Zelda cart to his millions of subscribers.

This is exactly why I will never, even on a free game, replace a label. Keep it original and if the damage bothers me, I will just buy a better copy.  

 

I'm hoping that it's still a bit esoteric to the point where people probably still wouldn't know much about it or even question it. Some may even think it's just the gold cart. hahaha I think the only people who really know are collector peeps like us who already know about it.

Still, it's pretty cool that he owns or is possession of one. Heck, even if it's a fake or a prop, cool little nod/acknowledgement IMO.

I think it's a fake cart, it looks oversized and I'm pretty sure in another video it is painted sparkly gold.

What exactly makes you think that?

My guess would be real and tampered with. That label bubbling is not normal wear and indicates that someone was altering it at some point. Big red flag to me. I sold my Zelda test cart last year because I was tired of all of these real or not debates each time one came up and it just wasn't for me. If it was a $100 cart sure, but at $2k+ I have no interest in owning it again.

Turns out it was an original test cartridge but the front label has been doctored (like Jonebone had guessed above). The previous owner confirmed this on a thread here with some photos: https://www.facebook.com/groups/r...
