I played quite a bit of Tron Legacy last week with my daughter. It seemed to be one of the more forgiving, entry level machines. We both had a lot of fun with that one and never felt like we were getting ripped off.
I recommend it. I'm no pinball wizard, so I appreciate that.

It has like a hot-wheels launcher built in so after you shoot the ball it zooms around the perimeter of the table a couple times really fast (like a racetrack). Makes me smile every time.

Matt and I just sold a pristine HUO Twilight Zone. Loved it, but we had to make room.

We have a deposit down on an LE Ghostbusters pin that should ship late April or early May. Have had close to a dozen pins over the years, currently only have a tastefully modded Kiss pro. Desperately needs new code, but still a fun shooter.

We don't have too many in public around here, that I know of.

But there used to be an Attack from Mars table at a local cheapie cinema that I'd go play the hell out of during lunch breaks, since it was close to the office.
Unfortunately, it was really poorly maintained, so after awhile certain ball returns/launchers ceased to function properly.

A real crime to see a grail table like that deteriorate.

Here's my list of pins that I think are awesome:

Eight Ball Champ
Eight Ball Deluxe
Super Mario Bros.
Mousin' Around (highly underrated machine)
Pinbot
High Speed
Haunted House

In a couple weeks I'll let you know if High Roller Casino is any good (my next pick up). Used to own a Monte Carlo and got bored of it pretty quickly. I really want a Junk Yard, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Back to the Future, Star Trek TNG, and Indiana Jones. Those are high priced machines, so it may be a while before I get them (plus I'm nearly out of room).

Which version of this table?

Is there a full-size that is actually good?  The Nolan brothers left me with the impression that the one we see a lot of pictures of is a 3/4 scale table that is kind of awful.

I acutally own both, but the one on my list is the larger blue machine.  It's called Super Mario Bros.  The smaller yellow version is called Super Mario Bros. Mushroom World.  And yes, the SMB MW does suck, but it's a machine geared towards kids and ticket redemption.  So it needs to be easy.  However, only 519 were made and I wanted to have both machines.

Yeah, I had the full size non-mushroom world for a while. Gottlieb games of that era are kinda garbage. Way too easy and a very thin rule set, it doesn't have much going for it other than an ok theme and those Gottliebs are incredibly easy to work on.

I think we're all kind of spoiled with more complex modern tables, though.

It's kind of like comparing an NES game to an Atari game, in that regard.
(or maybe Atari in this case is something 60's/70's era where there really are no rule sets... just drop targets and ramps )

I'm currently restoring a Gottlieb Count-Down from 1979. Very easy to work on and a simple game. I'm sure it will have entertainment value, but I don't think I'm going to keep it long term. Really I just wanted something to work on.

My parents have this in their basement, I grew up on it in the 80's and 90's and between me, my brothers and my friends, played it for 100's of hours each, probably not as good today but back then we could "flip it" which was considered a hell of challenge. I touched it up a few years back with new bumpers and bulbs; around the time I was picking up pinball machines left and right. I still hope to inherit this down the line.

It came out less than a year before twilight zone and a month AFTER the Addams family.  Not even close to a fair comparison.

Comparing an EM to a JJP game with an LCD screen would be unfair, or even early SS to DMD.  DMD games of this era were much, much deeper.  The game is universally panned for good reason.

Ha! Fair enough.

You're right, there are tons of great tables that were contemporary to that game.

I was thinking about trading my Neo Geo 4-slot and some cash for either a Judge Dredd, Johnny Mnemonic, or Demolition Man.

I'm leaning towards Dredd because it looks pretty fun, anybody have any thoughts on those three?

A few tables I need to add:
Fathom
Sea Witch
Banzai Run.

The first two are older but I like older tables. Elektra is a pretty cool one too.

Banzai Run has become one of my favorites!!
Great theme(BMX),nice rule set,and great sounds and music!

I played it at the Let's Play Expo last year. Pretty cool. Also played Varkon which was essentially a pinball machine put into an arcade cabinet.

Without question, this one is my all-time fave too. Still kick myself for not buying one from a local closing arcade around 1996 - I think they were asking $300. I wouldn't have had anywhere to put it at the time anyway though. Thought about buying one a couple years ago... then I saw the prices, lol. Guess a lot of people loved that machine.

Personally, I enjoy Demo Man the most. Dredd has a lot of modes but the multiballs are lacking and the wizard mode isn't much. Johnny has good flow but the theme is a bit "meh" and the scoring's a bit broken. Demo Man is the most balanced of the bunch, has great flow, good theme integration and both of its wizard-esque modes (Cryo Prison Multiball and Demolition Time) are always satisfying to get to. You can also play combos all day if you want and the triggers add other scoring opportunities. Great game overall in my opinion.

Thanks dude! I was a little worried about the gun controls on Demolition Man, do you use them?
