Should I sell Stadium Events for $2000?

I was just offered $2000 to sell my cart only copy of Stadium Events to a private collector and I am having a hell of a time deciding if I should do it.

On one hand its $2000, which itself is a crap load of money, and I'm pretty sure is also more than any other cart only copy has ever sold for (could be wrong though). And the collector is also 100% legit and I have actually met him in real life and seen his collection (which is unreal and makes mine look like I have nothing), so I know its an actual real offer.

But on the other hand, I really want a true complete ntsc NES set, and I am fairly certain I will never find another stadium events cart ever again, and if I sell it, I will always have an incomplete set.

BUT, its $2000.

Just wondering what everyone else would do?

Depends on the condition of your cart... if it isn't exceptionally Mint, I'd say sell it for $2000 and wait for the next one available at auction. You just can't lose a penny in this situation.

Do you really need that $2000 for something right now? If not, I'd keep it and wait for the cart to appreciate in value even more, and then sell it later on if you actually need to.

If you sell it for 2000 now, you can bid like a wildman on the next loosey that comes up (after Xmas of course) and win it with $500-$800 to spare.

I had a similar offer recently as well. Even for $2000, I don't think I could honestly part with mine because of it's immaculate condition. I had the same issue and I ultimately decided that I am going to keep it. It was tempting though. I think you could make a couple bucks like Dan says, but then you gotta worry about another high dollar transaction that always has potential to go badly.

Done deal and I wouldn't even think twice...

Do you actually have a full NTSC set now or are you incomplete but happen to have SE? If you are incomplete anyway then I don't see your attachment to this game. If you are fully complete, then it is much more understandable why you don't want to sell the game well-above its last recorded sale.

i would sell this instantly. even a pristine mint copy wouldn't fetch 2k. i think the last couple barely broke 1k. sell it now. you'll get another one for less within the year.

If it were me, I might sell it... but its never a slam dunk until you have a replacement. I would have offered around to try and get a replacement at 1500-1800 before agreeing to sell this one for 2k

WTB Cdn sealed black boxes, sealed Cdn first party titles.    I.e. the "mattel" Cdn boxes with both french and english.   Mainly black boxes, zelda, link, and tyson, but let me know what you have.    I am interested in anything I don't already have!

You're kidding, right?

Cart-only for a price so far above recent comps that price arbitrage is a near certainty, and you wouldn't consider it a slam dunk?

I think Bronty knows a little something about basketball.  He's the only guy I know that sliced tendons catching a ROUND ball.  But that's okay... His mittens are still pinned to his jacket too.

Ok, after seeing how many people would sell it, I think thats what I'm going to do. Thanks for all the opinions.

I am about 14 games from a complete set so I guess in the time frame of finding those, another cart will be up for sale. Though I personally think its a bit nuts to spend a grand or more on a game I'll never actually play. I have tried to find all the games I currently have in the wild or for much less than their actual value, so if I do have to end up paying market value for this, I'll probably be bummed out a little bit.

But oh well.

And to answer an earlier question, it is a mint cart, but I would assume most copies would be as the actual game isnt very fun to play. I would be fine will a busted up copy as a replacement if I got it for cheap.

I'd sell but that is why I don't have one anymore. I sold when I got a decent offer.
