So i found a cheap copy of Gyromite and noticed that it was heavier then other NES games i have. After doing some retro reading i discovered that there was an adapter in some of these. Popped the case open and i have a copy that has the adapter. Have not been able to find any price quotes or if its even that rare? Anyone have any ideas? I have pics uploaded to my album on here but not sure how to link to it?

Thanks and i spent waaaaay to much reading on here before actually having something to post.

Welcome to NA Chris! These usually go for about $15.00-20.00. I actually just posted one up for sale on eBay for $19.00 shipped.

The carts with converters will always be 5 screw and if you take some time handling them you will notice that they are heavier than other carts. You can also look at the pins on the end of the carts. Non converter carts have the tip of the pin in the middle and converter carts have the tip of the pins off to the edge. Nice little find man!

These really don't go up in value and the only really good use for the fami adapters are to make certain reproductions using the original famicom boards and the adapter inside an NTSC shell so that Japanese games can play on a US system as if they were made for it.

I know that Joe at thenesdump.com is always in need of these and will give you $15 for it or help you make a repro that needs one of these.  I recently had him make me the full set of Dragonball and Dragonball Z games with the patched roms since they have complicated mappers and need the original famicom boards to make.

Fire Emblem and Fire Emblem: Gaiden both require the fami adapter to make a repro of but they are well worth it!

Joe goes by Coinheaven here on NA and i do recommend that anyone who has an extra fami adapter to contact him and send it to him so he can make more repros for the community.

If anyone is LOOKING for certain repro/homebrews, I have a running repro company thread going as well as a lot of extras myself which include Limited Editions as well.  I'm also free to help answer questions and point people in the right direction so never hesitate to ask!  Here is the current list of repro companies.  Please let me know if I need to update it:

Yeah, I used a Gyromite and made a DevilWorld cart outta mine, and just put Gyromite in the old DevilWorld Case:

When buying these carts, I usually buy them at flea markets since they usually have regular value of plain Gyromites which is about $5.

Rare? Yes and No. Gyromite is a game that sometimes has the converter, but I think is always based on luck and hints. The adapter is not rare, but not common either. I've found many of them over the years.
