So I've been working at this for a little over a year now and have finally completed my Trading Card set.  The set includes 170 cards and a couple extra ones that I'd like to discuss with y'all.

I've listed out the number and picture on every card in a google doc here

But here's where I am going.  I've found as I've accumulated doubles throughout the process that there are a couple variants that exist throughout the series.  So far I've come across four cards that have differences between them.

Card #132 Monster Max and #136 Walt Disney's The Jungle Book

Card #44 Spy vs Spy and #114 Daffy Duck

Some more obvious than others naturally, but I am wondering if anyone can confirm if there are these out there :
  • #166 Jungle Book for game boy with "Walt Disney's" in the title (mine just has Disney's)
  • #108 Duck Tales 2 with "Walt Disney's" in the title (mine just has Disney's)
And if anyone knows of any other variants within the set I would love to hear it ... I am guessing they different printing runs on ones with the two font sizes as seen in Daffy Duck's card.

It's a fun set to complete if you got the time and dedication.  If you're looking for cards PM me a list as I have about 30 or so doubles left.

(and if anyone can pull some strings for a new icon I won't mind either )

For anyone with questions, here's a breakdown of the cards in the set :

Wow, nice eye. Those variants are sick, well, if they are variants. Great job on finishing the collection. And I think you deserve an icon for that!

Neat. I wouldn't be surprised if the variants were related to Super Power Club reprints that were ordered with stamps rather than collected through the normal magazine.

I've been working on this set for awhile myself, but I can't really comment on the origin of these variants. I only have a couple of the ones in question, and only one version of each (still need the Monster Max and Jungle Book if you have extras)

@kainzzo - These were all found in Nintendo Power issues ...

@subcon3 - they did a couple special runs of cards in the back : Mega Man X2 . DKC2 . Mario Kart 64 . Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island . Super Mario RPG . Street Fighter Alpha 2 . Mortal Kombat 3 (<- one of the MK series, I believe, not necessarily this one)

There is another edition of the cards that were up a while back for auction. They included a gold "Collector's edition" at the bottom of the card. I haven't seen any of those come up since or ever before ... so maybe those were mail away exclusives, I don't know for sure

Can't believe I missed this thread the first go round, grats man!

And yes, I remember those gold embossed cards too, never have seen them since.  Wish I had bought em, there were at least 25+ unique ones if I recall correctly.  No idea as to the origins of those...

Just wanting to add my congrats to you! I have looked at these many times and thought about working on a set myself. How do you display yours? Would they fit in baseball card pages?

Almost definitely Super Power Club.  I remember sets of cards being available through their catalog.

Wanted to update you all on the gold foil edition cards ... They were sold as a set of 50 from the power supplies catalogs Nintendo put out. The cards range from 1 - 68 but only 50 cards are in the set.

Redivivus - they will fit in a normal baseball card 9 card page just as easily. Mine are in three mini albums made by Nintendo power with the black cover (seen in another thread I have)

Yup, and they look like the image below. You can see the gold foil stamped on the top of each card that says "Collector's Edition" and also the "Super Power Club" logo in the lower left. These cards are carefully/professionally cut so they don't have the frayed edges.

I have a ton of extras of these cards and am desperate to complete my set. I only need one card, the 44 variant that does not have operation booby trap. Willing to trade or buy.  PM me.  Would even take help on where this card might have come from.  I know card 44 frequents issue 48, but all the ones Ive found say operation booby trap.  Anybody know if maybe the lesser variant came in another issue?

Glad that some people are still looking for these. I'm trying to finish up my collection too, 20 years later haha.

I was fortunate enough to pick up a set of the 50 gold cards from the Nintendo Catalog back in the day. Had I known their demand today I probably would have bought a few more! If by some miracle anyone has extras of those and are looking to trade, let me know. I still miss the 18 that didn't complete the gold set.

I have almost 200 spares. Most of them are in good shape. A few are damaged (either torn or I didn't cut them out right) but I haven't the heart to throw them away just yet... not until the main collection is complete. However, I'm willing to trade or buy, depending on what's available.

I only need the following to complete the main collection:
  • 63 (Marble Madness)
  • 139 (Winter Extreme)
  • 161 (Yoshi)
For the variants, I need:
  • 44 (Spy Vs Spy, no subtitle)
  • 114 (Daffy Duck Marvin Missions, smaller font)
As a side-mission, there's also a few cards that are slightly to somewhat damaged and wouldn't mind picking up replacements. Those are:
  • 85 (Legend of Zelda)
  • 141 (Clay Fighter 2)
  • 169 (Lion King)
If anyone can help out, that would be great. Hopefully I can help you out, too. Just PM me if you want to move forward with a possible trade/sale.

Joey, I don't believe that the 18 you are missing were ever created. Nintendo produced the 50 card set but as you know, they're not sequential. I currently have 3 of these collector's series sets, and all of them contain the same 50 cards (non-sequential).

I've just finished my entire set as well and have a ton of extras. If you want, feel free to PM me.
