someone posted some leaked gamestop prices, supposedly, here I share them
prices in ( ) are trade in value and price at the right is the sale value, for what I can see
if this is true they want to lure people into sell their games there instead of ebay or retro stores
by offering HIGH trade in value

64

UPDATE for those who did not see these other pics:

SPECIAL LIST OF GAMES THAT WILL BE ACCEPTED ONLY
SOURCE: REDDIT GAMESTOP
IF THE GAME IS NOT LISTED IT WILL BE TAKEN AS GENERIC OR MAY NOT GET ACCEPTED AT ALL

If i'm reading that right then those are some pretty crazy high sale/trade prices...

Edit: Nvm, I see it now but still not bad trade in on the lower quality titles. Could trade in a ton of lower quality titles towards credit for their higher end titles online!

Let's see how long GS goes retro this time around... many attempts do seem to fail, but looking at this list, I don't really have high hopes.

"Atari ET" and "Generic NES Game" has caught my attention though. lol

I find trade in prices very high, its more than I give my costumers at my store so this might be their tactic to lure people to sell there.

I fully expected the sale prices to be ridiculous, but what catches my attention most is the really high trade-in value. If this succeeds, we will probably see a large rise in prices across the board and not just with GS, no?

I agree that this is some sort of bait tactic. I too work at a gamestore, but even with the overhead I have, I can still do better than GS.

If they do keep the trade-ins on high end, I can't image what their prices would be. If it's anything like the current-gen stuff, I don't see this as something substantial/lucrative. I think they're just baiting people.

Lets take for example excitebike.. I have a lot of these sitting at my store's shelf, I sell these at $5 each or 5 games for $20 and they don't sell, If gamestop starts buying at that price I might go and trade in all games/accessories I have like this one example.

lol, let's hope they give high price for commons that I can't sell either, because I'll totally take advantage of that as well.

Wonder if GS is savvy enough with games like Excitebike to know anything about the Famicom adapters that may be housed inside.

I highly doubt it, also notice that they are treating tetris as a single game? So they will sell the tengen one at the same price then?

I imagine these "trade in" prices will have to be met with certain conditions...

Such as game will have to be boxed with manual/instructions and in good saleable condition...

Try taking a disc only wii/ps3/xbox game to a game stop and see how far you get trading it in!

Most people I know no longer have the box never mind the manual for most NES/SNES/Sega games!

Classic bait and switch. Whats that you dont have the box or instructions for chrono trigger, well then in that case we can only offer you $6 trade credit...

Wait and see!

Well someone who lives near a gamestop that is accepting retro should go and tests the waters and tell us their story

Posted it in another thread here, but a GS worker posted on Reddit that he gave a guy $58.20 trade in value for Donkey Kong Classics, Double Dragon, Excitebike, and 2 Super Mario 2's.

Holy moly your right... It seems if the game is not on the list, like the ones I posted, the they will be taken as GENERIC in some gamestops at 5 cents EACH.... other gamestop will tell you that they will not accept the ones not on the list.

I just received info that lists similar to these are for games they want to get so that they could sell them off as bundle sets. Dunno if that's a "wash our hands once we get people in the store" but we'll see. As for reliability of the source this is from a GS GM that we know.

Not sure how well this holds out, but again, we'll see.

The list is weird too, in some cases they take games of a series that are more uncommon than others in the series, like they'll take TMNT 3 Manhattan Project but not TMNT 1? In other cases they'll take the more common games and not the rarer ones, like in Mega Man's case, they'll take 2, 3, 4, 6, and X, but not 1, 5, X2, or X3?

If they really five people that much "trade value" then fuck gamestop. Monopolistic bullshit company. Cant stand gamestores that dont give two shits about what they sell.

I give cash. Trade value is almost useless at gamestop since nothing there is a good deal or price.

Tmnt 1 is a poorly made excuse for a game with "arcade" in the title and tmnt 3 is well polished and executed so thats no surpise there. It seems clear to me that GS doesnt wana sell NES games over $60 for pretty obvious reasons (few people pay $60 for games, their customers expect to get games for 'good prices', etc). The majority of the games theyre buying from this list should be extremely easy for them to sell. Also w these games, they'll have some of the most popular, playable games for each console giving them the appearance that they got what the johns want. Maros, Megamans and Zeldas.

I don't see Gamestop lowering the value of one game based on that list. In some cases it's higher than retail. Can't wait to see where this goes.

12.99 for a zapper? 9.00 for a controller? Those are 4.99 at goodwill all day long- Time to get rich on credit.

If I'm reading the list right, that's what they'll charge for those. The trade-in price is cut off for some.
